Imagine Nader with subpoena power at Senatorial hearings on military misappropriations, homeland security or military contracting.

Imagine Nader grilling Bernanke, Geithner or any of Obama's corporate friendly appointees to the Departments of Interior, Health and Human Services or Agriculture,

Imagine Nader sponsored legislation on global warming, consumer protection and labor rights.

Imagine Nader able to filibuster (Jimmy Stewart like) a war appropriations supplemental. Bernie Sanders placing a hold on the Bernanke nomination-now in the process of being overridden by banker BFF Dodd-gives-some of us a small taste of Nader as Senator. If leftists want an investment of time which offers a real bang for the buck, they could do a lot worse than throwing some cash at the Nader campaign and once it gets up and running, to knock on doors, organize house parties, phone bank and receive the abuse of ever more ridiculous Democratic Party hacks and sycophants.

This time, it will be to win." http://www.counterpunch.org/halle12042009.html

As American unemployment hit the double digits in November, the highest in over 25 years, Reverend Billy Talen has a message of Peace on Earth and peace of mind for people facing the holidays amid financial uncertainty. "You don't have to buy a gift to give a gift" says Talen, of the Church of Life After Shopping.

Rev Sez: Consumerism enforces a bizzaro-world morality around the holidays, where we don't feel guilty for indulging but instead feel guilty for not indulging and spending enough! We're saying you can have a guilt-free, debt-free Christmas this year. Don't charge Christmas on the credit card, SAVE Christmas by spending time with your family and community.

New Yorkers can tap into the holiday spirit of buylessness by joining us at the Brooklyn Lyceum on Saturday December 12, 2009 at 8pm. Tickets are a sensible $10.00. We're 1/5th the price of the Rockettes, twice the fun, and the Choir is ten times sexier!

Rick Sez: On Saturday, if you or your friends are in NYC please join us for another high energy, rabble rousing show. You'll hear plenty of singin' and testifyin' with Rev. Billy's irreverent and insightful unique blend of social issues/politics, theater, humor and great gospel music. As "Church Organist" I can tell you that the 35+ member Gospel Choir and band get better all the time!

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Only about 4% of troubled borrowers have received long-term help under the Obama administration's foreclosure prevention program, Treasury officials said Thursday.

A nearly equal number of trial modifications have been denied permanent assistance, the report showed. The reasons include not making monthly payments on time, not submitting all the necessary paperwork, or not qualifying for reasons such as insufficient income.

Only about 31,000 troubled borrowers have received long-term help under the Obama administration's foreclosure prevention program, Treasury officials say. FULL STORY

I have read and completely support the revised platform of the Longhouse
Coalition. I wrote the original version in one night back about four
years ago. I revised it during the campaign adding other planks as I
found need. This does what I was trying to do then, commits the
Coalition to addressing people and other problems. That is what the
first platform was about. Take it and run with it. I would if I had
either the health or the time to do so. I have other more important
commitments this year which are designed to address the same needs. Good
luck and my Great Mystery bless your candidacy.

December 3, 2009) - Congressman Dennis Kucinich delivered an alternative approach to National Security in a speech to Congress - National Security starts at home in America. The war is a threat to our National Security. Congressman Kucinich stated:  "America is in the fight of its life and that fight is not in Afghanistan - it's here. We are deeply in debt. Our GDP is down. Our manufacturing is down. Our savings are down. Our trade deficit is up. Business failures are up. Bankruptcies are up."

"The war is a threat to our National Security. We'll spend over $100 billion next year to bomb a nation of poor people while we reenergize the Taliban, destabilize Pakistan, deplete our army and put more of our soldiers' lives on the line. Meanwhile, back here is the USA, 15 million people are out of work. People are losing their jobs, their health care, their savings, their investments, and their retirement security. Trillions in bailouts for Wall Street, trillions for war; when are we going to start taking care of things here at home?" http://kucinich.us/  http://nader.org/

The Afghan Quagmire

Misusing professional cadets at West Point as a political prop, President Barack Obama delivered his speech on the Afghanistan war forcefully but with fearful undertones. He chose to escalate this undeclared war with at least 30,000 more soldiers plus an even larger number of corporate contractors.

Broad Provision in Immigration Law Results in Refugees, Asylum Seekers Being Labeled Terrorists

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DREAM_Act Wednesday 02 December 2009

http://www.truthout.org/1202099 by: William Fisher, t r u t h o u t | Report

Thousands of legitimate refugees and asylum seekers — who pose no danger to the United States and who have committed no acts of wrongdoing — are being labeled "terrorists" and their applications for protection are being denied or delayed because of overly broad "terrorism" provisions in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).

AND THIS was BEFORE Obamba committed to a grand NEW SURGE:

"Let us be clear, we now actually have a total complement of over 120,000 people on the public payroll at an overall cost of roughly $100 billion a year.  We can project a loss of a few hundred American soldiers a year and several thousand wounded.   Our senior commander in the Central Command, General David Petraeus, tells us that we cannot win that war."

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/brad-wilmouth/2009/12/02/olbermann-slams-cowardly-cheney-maybe-you-should-shut-dick Keith Olbermann attacked former Vice President Cheney for a recent interview criticizing President Obama for some of his actions in the war on terrorism, with Olbermann accusing Cheney of being "cowardly" for opposing the administration's plan to try suspects behind the 9/11 attacks -- like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed -- in New York City: "So cowardly is Mr. Cheney, in fact, that he trembles at the thought of an accused terrorist coming to New York City in chains." Olbermann also charged: "Mr. Cheney revealed that unlike authentically tough people, he is still so panicked that he still mistakes acting tough for being tough and makes the corollary error that failing to act tough implies that you are weak."

And because the former Cheney took exception with Obama for giving an unusually "deep bow" to some world leaders, after invoking President Nixon bowing to Japanese Emperor Hirohito, Olbermann snapped: "If you can`t summon up just the boilerplate grim respect your former responsibilities still demand, maybe you should shut up, Dick."    By Brad Wilmouth

Mike Huckabee’s Burden

By TIMOTHY EGAN

SEATTLE – They were shot execution-style: four police officers starting a shift on Sunday morning at a coffee shop in a suburb of Tacoma. They were parents, each of them, community leaders, veteran officers.

Who to blame? The suspect, police say, is Maurice Clemmons, a man with a lengthy criminal record and a pattern of serious mental illness. As of this writing, he’s still on the loose.

Trying to explain how such a man could be on the streets, despite five felony convictions in Arkansas that should have kept him locked up for life, Detective Ed Troyer of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office said, “Some people have to answer to that.”

At the top of that list is Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor and current host at Fox News. Huckabee granted Clemmons early release nine years ago, against the objections of prosecutors and victims.

If this case does not sink the presidential aspirations of Huckabee, a leading Republican candidate, it should. By the standards that Republicans launched almost 20 years ago, Huckabee will be Willie Hortonized. But this case also shows, as with an earlier episode in Arkansas, that Huckabee’s judgment is seriously flawed.

If Huckabee were a liberal and a Democrat, he would be a punching bag for right wing blowhards an example of clueless, soft-on-crime politicians at their worst. Fox News would be stalking him, as they have others responsible for letting criminals out early.

Instead, he’s been allowed to get away with issuing a passive, blame-shifting statement. In the release, issued Sunday night, Huckabee takes no personal responsibility for letting Clemmons out early. Instead, he cites “a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington.”

(UPDATE, 10:40 p.m.: Later, he appeared Monday night on Fox, and said he was sickened by the killings, and tried to explain his role in letting Clemmons out. He said he was responsible for his part, but again laid most of the blame on the “failure of the systems” in Washington and Arkansas. For this, he was was praised by host Bill O’Reilly as a “stand-up guy.”)

Yes, a series of failures, resulting in the worst act of violence against law enforcement in the history of this state – four officers gunned down in “a targeted, selective ambush,” in Detective Troyer’s words.

A series of failures: starting at the top, with Gov. Huckabee.

“This is the day I’ve been dreading for a long time,” Arkansas prosecutor Larry Jegley told the Seattle Times. Jegley had strenuously objected to Huckabee’s granting of clemency to Clemmons.

Clemmons was serving a 108-year sentence on at least five felony convictions. In moving to get him out early, Huckabee cited his youth – age 18 – of his first conviction. Huckabee, a Baptist minister, thought Clemmons deserved another chance. He felt the same way about Wayne Dumond, a convicted rapist whose cause had been taken up by a Christian broadcaster and friend of Huckabee’s.

After Dumond was released – Huckabee denied having a hand in it, though parole board members said otherwise – he was convicted of raping and murdering another woman.

In Washington state, Maurice Clemmons had been in jail on a warrant for rape of a child. He was released a week ago, after posting a bail bond. Relatives said he was deranged, and that he thought he was a messiah.

These failures reveal institutional and human flaws. Some are inevitable products of a strained system, with legal protections often at odds with community safety. But none stands out more than the intervention of Huckabee to put Clemmons back on the street.

Huckabee says this “horrible and tragic event” should not be politicized. But it is his party that has honed such attacks into a dark art. This is a prison of their making, and they wasted little time getting back to it, even when the offender is one of their own . Michelle Malkin’s Web site Monday showed a picture of Clemmons, with a tag line: “Huckabee’s Willie Horton II.”

Back in 1988, when it came to light that Willie Horton committed fresh crimes while out on a weekend furlough program backed by then-Gov. Mike Dukakis of Massachusetts, Republicans used it to help destroy Dukakis the presidential candidate. It may even have cost him the election.

“The only question is whether we depict Willie Horton with a knife in his hand or without it,” said a gleeful Roger Ailes, then a media consultant to Republicans.

Ailes now runs Fox News. If they decide to hold the politician accountable for early release of a violent felon linked now to a death of four police officers, they know where to find him – in studio, as a Fox News host.

Rove Does His Best Cheney Impression As He Eagerly   ‘Draft Cheney’ Rumors - exceprt quotes

Ever since Liz Cheney floated her father as a possible presidential contender in 2012, rumors have swirled that the former VP may be thinking about such a run. Now, a group of right-wing activists is unveiling a new organization — “Draft Dick Cheney 2012.”

This morning on Fox News, former Bush political adviser Karl Rove summarily dismissed the “draft Cheney” rumors, and did so by mocking Cheney’s characteristically curmudgeon voice:

FOX: Karl, would Dick Cheney have any chance in running for the Oval Office in 2012? His favorability ratings were on the rise at last check, but still very low.

ROVE: Well, look, that’s a question we don’t even need to ask. Cheney’s been asked this question himself this past week, and I will quote Vice President Cheney when he was asked would you run for President in 2012. He said, [Rove doing Cheney impression] “Not a chance.”

I mean, look, he’s not running. He’s not running. [Rove doing Cheney impression] “Not a chance.”

Interestingly, in his eagerness to dismiss even the slightest hint that Cheney might run, Rove never offered a positive word during the segment about Cheney’s service as Vice President. “There are limits as to what Dick Cheney could be called upon to do for the country,” Rove said. Watch it:

Many right-wing activists had urged Cheney to make a run for president in 2008. In a piece titled “Cheney’s Chance,” The New York Sun wrote in 2007, “For those of us who are concerned with extending Mr. Bush’s campaign for freedom around the world and cutting taxes at home, a Cheney campaign is attractive.”

In this week’s Newsweek, Jon Meacham argues in favor of a Cheney presidential run, writing that it would offer the American public an opportunity to render a clear verdict on the Bush record.http://thinkprogress.org/2009/11/28/rove-on-draft-cheney/

 How We Fund the Taliban

Weird Russian Mind-Control Research Behind Homeland Security Contract  http://www.wired.com/politics/security/news/2007/09/mind_reading?currentPage=all Questions That Must Be Asked by Michael Gaddy Recently by Michael Gaddy: Fort Hood Mystery  http://www.lewrockwell.com/gaddy/gaddy73.1.htm To this point in time the only evidence that has been presented concerning the terrible murders at Fort Hood has been that presented by accomplished liars and killers of innocent people: the government. To detail and list the lies of the government and its propaganda arm, known as the media, would take more time and space than is available. Need I say more than "Iraq has weapons of mass destruction," "Read my lips, no new taxes," "I did not have sex with that woman, Miss Lewinski," "I am not a crook"; and "all our POWs are home." Web sites abound with documentation of the lies of the state, its leaders and component agencies. What more can be said about killers of the innocent than, Vicki Weaver (shot in the face by FBI agent Lon Horiuchi while holding her infant daughter), Samuel Weaver (14-year-old, shot in the back by US Marshals) and the 80 plus killed at Waco, including 32 children. Seeing as how government testimony could be impeached in any court not operated and controlled by the state as originating from a pathological and habitual liar, we can assume we will never be privileged to the truth in this matter, but it would be informative to have the following questions answered; questions I am sure we will never hear asked by the MSM.

We know Hasan graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in biochemistry from the school’s Center for Applied Behavior Systems, most likely on the taxpayer’s dime. While at Virginia Tech did Hasan have any associations with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA); was he in any way associated with them since his graduation, if so, in what capacity? DARPA states on its website, "DARPA programs focus on high-risk research that will have payoffs that could provide dramatic advances in military capabilities." DARPA has been rumored to be associated with the MKULTRA program of mind control and Virginia Tech. Cathy O’Brien stated in her book, Trance-Formation of America that "Virginia Tech is good for two things, engineering and mind control." and that "most of the east coast M.K. Ultra Mind Control experiments happened in this DARPA facility."

Another question that deserves an answer is, "Exactly what position did Major Hasan hold in the U.S. Army’s PSYOP community and how did that relate to his dealings with his patients? Also, what was Major Hasan’s position with the US Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress and how did this relate to his duties with the Army’s Warrior Combat Reset Program? Did Major Hasan’s assignment to Ft. Hood have anything to do with a program the Army initiated to "electronically prepare" soldiers for redeployment to Iraq and Afghanistan?

The number of suicides and murders seen in returning veterans is at an all time high. These numbers have been downplayed and underreported. Have there been any reports within the military dealing with what commanders feel could lead to an inability to continue to prosecute the wars? Recently a report was published stating a significant number of 17–24-year-olds to be unfit for military service. The lack of a qualified pool for entrance into the military will lead to a continuation of multiple redeployments that will lead to more and more suicides, murders and rapes among returning veterans. What steps are being taken to electronically or medically deal with these problems and what was Major Hasan’s role in these programs?

The Department of Homeland Security contacted a Soviet company called Psychotechnology Research Institute in 2007 in its never-ending search to ferret out terrorist suspects. Ironically, this was the same company contacted by the FBI in an effort to assist with the siege at Waco, and was also the entity that was tasked with dealing with Russian soldiers suffering from PTSD upon their return from Afghanistan. The question must be asked, were any of the techniques now being employed by the US military, specifically by Major Hasan, acquired from this Soviet company? Was the software made by this company known as Semantic Stimuli Response Measurements Technology (SSRM Tek) a part of any treatment of American soldiers? It has been reported Russian soldiers being treated with this technology experienced not a remission of battle memories but instead an immersion in those memories which caused several of them to become very violent resulting in the deaths of over 30 of their fellow soldiers.

The great majority of information concerning mind control as a military tool and the cooperation of the Soviets with our military and its efforts at mind control are shrouded in secrecy.

Americans have a right to know what techniques and experiments are being used on their fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, brothers and sisters who have, or will, experience the horrors of war.

The thought the government would not engage in such activity is preposterous. One need only look before and during the Vietnam War to see what mind control experiments were being conducted, many times against the will of the soldier involved. There is presently a lawsuit filed by attorney Gordon Erspamer in January in Federal District Court in San Francisco against the Army and CIA on behalf of Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) and six former soldiers who claim to be survivors of these experiments. Found here is the actual proof these experiments were conducted.

Are we to believe that somewhere between these mind control experiments on both civilians and soldiers, both then and now, the government has acquired a moral compass concerning what it will and will not do to those it considers to be nothing but indentured servants and guinea pigs? Americans can blindly accept the lies of government and continue providing their children to the monster, or begin to demand answers to questions like those posed above.

How long will we continue to compile evidence for Henry Kissinger’s claim that "Soldiers are just dumb, stupid animals, to be used as pawns of foreign policy?"

The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act (The "DREAM Act") is a piece of proposed federal legislation in the United States that was introduced in the United States Senate, and the United States House of Representatives on March 26, 2009. This bill would provide certain undocumented immigrant students who graduate from US high schools, are of good moral character, arrived in the US as children, and have been in the country continuously for at least five years prior to the bill's enactment, the opportunity to earn conditional permanent residency. The students would obtain temporary residency for a six year period. Within the six year period, a qualified student must have "acquired a degree from an institution of higher education in the United States or [have] completed at least 2 years, in good standing, in a program for a bachelor's degree or higher degree in the United States," or have "served in the uniformed services for at least 2 years and, if discharged, [have] received an honorable discharge."[1]. "Any alien whose permanent resident status is terminated [according to the terms of the Act] shall return to the immigration status the alien had immediately prior to receiving conditional permanent resident status under this Act." [2

Whatever the short-term gains from introducing drone warfare in these last years, we are now locked into the 24/7 assassination trade -- with our own set of non-suicide bombers on the job into eternity. This may pass for sanity in Washington, but it's surely helping to pave the road to hell.

Each locus is a point along an individual’s DNA where scientists look for identifying variants in the genes that make up our genetic code. Each DNA locus in a CODIS profile is made up of two alleles, one inherited from each genetic parent.
This kind of match excludes the offender whose CODIS profile provides the match because that individual’s DNA is demonstrably different from the crime scene sample. But a partial match can implicate an offender’s close genetic relatives as possible perpetrators of a crime because they, like the crime scene sample, share some but not all of the examined loci with the individual whose CODIS profile provided the partial match. In effect, reporting partial matches implicitly incorporates offenders’ close genetic relatives into existing offender databases, even though these relatives have never been convicted of, or arrested for, an offense qualifying them for database inclusion. (snips) ... Although written lab policies are better than unwritten ones, neither is as transparent a means for making policy as the public deserves.

Transparency for search policies

(snips) the FBI may promulgate binding regulations and guidance authorizing or proscribing certain uses of relevant databases. The interim policy discussed above represents the FBI’s current approach, but the FBI could insist in a new policy document that states make their practices regarding familial identification practices publicly known by means of statutory or formal regulatory instruments, or even that states simply not release familial identification information discovered through CODIS searching. The FBI may be limited, however, in its ability to regulate intra-state practices, especially where those practices include methods of analysis beyond CODIS searching—as where states test regions of DNA not among the thirteen core CODIS loci. Moreover, states are likely to view a federal mandate that they undertake particular legislative or executive action as an encroachment on state sovereignty and federalism values.

...

Disparate state policies

(snips) Trying to dream up all of things we might do with DNA and then prohibiting most of these might well be an unending exercise.
But states have sometimes been proactive in their regulation of DNA databases to specify not only types of analysis that may be completed, but also types of analysis that may not. ...  Only two of the sixteen states that confirmed that they have written policies have codified these policies in documents easily accessible to the general public. Again, Maryland has addressed familial searching by means of legislation, and expressly prohibited the practice. California, meanwhile, issued a well-publicized memorandum by the state attorney general that authorizes, under limited circumstances, both partial match reporting and familial searching....  experiences of Maryland, New York, West Virginia teach that public engagement is not incompatible with policymaking in this arena, and state laboratories calling for public consideration of familial identification practices indicate that there is a felt need for public involvement in such policymaking. Indeed, public involvement, along with transparency and accountability in this arena, are vitally important. Every state in the union created its DNA database by means of legislation, and many have expanded by legislative amendment the range of persons subject to inclusion. Partial match reporting and familial searching implicitly expand the range of persons that may be identified through existing databases. Although DNA profiles are often described as genetic “fingerprints,” partial match practices take advantage of the ways in which DNA is utterly unlike a fingerprint—genetic relatives have similar genetic features in predictable ways, and so family members can sometimes be inculpated through partial matches with the DNA of their offender relatives. get to know the person: it is MOST educational, yes?

"There is right, and there is wrong. We in Central Florida have sent someone to Washington who fights for what’s right.

Our Congressman, Alan Grayson, grew up in the tenements in the Bronx. It was a hard life. He had to be a fighter to survive.

His parents were teachers. They made great sacrifices, to make sure that Alan received the best education.

Alan was a sick child. His mother took him to the hospital four times a week, for treatment. Without health coverage, he would not be alive today. He remembers that.

Alan rode the subway to school each day, and he worked hard. He was the valedictorian of his junior high school. By passing a test, he was admitted to an exclusive public high school. In high school, he achieved the highest test score among almost 50,000 students who took the test. Harvard College saw something in him, and admitted him.

For Alan, life at Harvard wasn’t easy. Alan cleaned toilets, and worked as a night watchman. Yet he earned a bachelor’s degree in only three years, with high honors, and he was Phi Beta Kappa. Alan graduated from Harvard in the top two percent of his class.

Alan took economics classes at Harvard, and he worked as an economist after college. But he felt a calling, to learn more. He returned to Harvard. In only four years, Alan received a J.D. with honors from Harvard Law School, and a master’s degree from the Harvard School of Government, and Alan finished all of the course work and passed the general exams for a Ph.D. in Government.

Alan’s master’s thesis was on the important subject of gerontology – how to improve the health of older people. Alan called for the creation of an organization to support research on the health of seniors. Shortly after he left school, Alan formed such an organization: the Alliance for Aging Research. Alan served as an officer of the Alliance for 22 years. Alan’s Alliance has increased federal support for aging research by 500%, leading to breakthroughs in the treatment of blindness, weak bones, Alzheimer’s disease, and other afflictions of the elderly. The motto of the Alliance is “Living to 100 – and Loving It.”

Wall Street firms recruited Alan heavily when he graduated from Harvard Law School, but Alan chose to be a judge’s assistant instead. For two years, he worked with such luminaries as Judge (now Justice) Ginsburg, Judge (now Justice) Scalia, Judge Mikva, Judge Bork, and others. After that, he accepted an invitation to join the law firm where Judge Ginsburg’s husband was a partner.

From the beginning of his legal career, Alan gravitated toward the important question of how the Government spends the taxpayers’ money. He mastered the incredibly complex rules regarding government contracting, and represented hundreds of clients in that field.

In the early 1990s, Alan took leave from the practice of law, and started a business. Alan was the first President of IDT Corp., a telecom/internet company. The business started on the second floor of a funeral home. It grew to be a $2 billion-a-year business, on the Fortune 1000 list, and traded on the New York Stock Exchange. In short, Alan has lived the American Dream, starting a successful business and seeing it grow.

Later, Alan decided to leave that business, and return to the practice of law. Alan and his wife also decided to move to Orlando, and raise a family. Their first child, Skye, was born in 1995. Now they have five children: Skye, Star, Sage, Storm and Stone. Storm and Stone, twins, were born in 2005.

After Alan went back to the field of government contracts law, he began to represent whistleblowers, who witnessed fraud against the Government. Alan brought more and more False Claims Act cases on behalf of those whistleblowers, against fraudulent contractors. After the war in Iraq began, Alan was the only attorney who was willing to pursue such cases, in the face of hostility from the Bush Administration. Congress called on Alan four times to testify about contractor fraud in Iraq. Taxpayers Against Fraud named Alan Grayson its Lawyer of the Year. Public Justice also recognized Alan for his work. The Wall St. Journal lauded Alan, saying that he was “waging a one-man war against contractor fraud in Iraq.” And Vanity Fair published an 11-page profile.

Alan’s mammoth struggle against contractor fraud has been applauded by liberals and conservatives alike. And now that he is in Congress, he can do even more to protect the taxpayers. He has joined the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittees of both the House Financial Services Committee and the House Science and Technology Committee. There, Alan does what he has been doing for decades – “keeping ‘em honest.” And furthermore, with a quarter century of experience in how the Government spends its money, Alan can help to direct more of that money to Central Florida, where we need it."

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a revolutionary way of thinking and speaking that many believe is a key to bringing peace to our world - a key we can all use whether it's in our personal relationships, our work interactions or even international politics.

Would you like to learn new ways to improve communication and effectiveness in your business dealings, working groups, family and in all your relationships?

Be The Change provides the language, process and understanding of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) for preventing and resolving conflict, deepening connection, and increasing skillfulness in both working and personal situations.

Be The Change is based on the groundbreaking work of conflict resolution developed by internationally acclaimed mediator Marshall Rosenberg.

Be The Change is facilitated by:

Thom Bond, Founder of the New York Center for Nonviolent Communication (www.nycnvc.org). Thom is a Certified Trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication (www.cnvc.org). He coordinates and facilitates NVC trainings in New York and throughout the World. Thom is a close associate and friend of Marshall Rosenberg (the creator of NVC).

and

Rick Ulfik, Founder and Board Chair of We, The World (www.WeTheWorld.org). He works with organizations and coalitions around the world to produce and promote collaborative initiatives and events for peace, sustainability and transformation. Marshall Rosenberg is an Advisory Board member of We, The World and was the first person to sign WTW's Declaration of Interdependence (which Thom Bond also worked on).

Be The Change takes a revolutionary approach by addressing the underlying causes and characteristics of judgment and anger, right-wrong thinking and other forms of "life-alienating" language and thought that disconnect us, others and organizations. Using a variety of interactive formats including role-plays, experiential, small and large group processes, exercises, and empathy practices, you will learn new ways to express yourself that create more fun, inspiration and harmony in your life.

Be The Change will take place on 9 Wednesday Evenings 7-9:15PM on the following nights:

November 11th and 18th
December 2nd, 9th and 16th
January 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th

These dates will provide a unique opportunity to utilize NVC skills and consciousness not just during regular living/working situations, but during holiday gatherings as well, and then to bring those "real-world" situations and experiences to the class for role-playing, discussion and greater understanding.

"Over the last three years REVEREND BILLY AND THE STOP SHOPPING GOSPEL CHOIR have created rousing anthems of protest at the Highline Ballroom.

Now that America has slowed its Consumerism considerably, the rampaging church has changed its name to The Church of Life After Shopping. Yes, let’s shop, but locally, organically, Fairtrade and Sweatfree when we can!

The Shopocalypse has taken place, and now we are looking out at a new America, our neighborhoods are coming into focus, and amid the pain of change – there is much promise. The Life After Shopping Singers are offering their first song after the burst of the retail bubble, and it is “Fabulous Bad Weather.” Let’s ride that storm, children! Time to come back to church!"

Rick Sez:
On Sunday, if you or your friends are in NYC please join us for another high energy, rabble rousing show. You'll hear plenty of singin' and testifyin' with Rev. Note: If you're not in New York or can't come to the dinner party, and want to be supportive on the occasion of my (milestone) birthday celebration, you can easily help my birthday wish to come true! My wish is that We, The World has full participation and support (www.WeTheWorld.org/donate) now from our friends and colleagues (like you) so we may expand our current Programs, achieve unprecedented collaboration between our Visionary Partners and fully launch our big Vision for a Livable Future. Thank you!
Dear Friends,

If you're in NYC on Tuesday Oct. 20th I hope you can make this annual birthday dinner gathering. Last year it was truly transformative how people met and connected with each other (and with me). It's my way of bringing together folks I'm grateful to have in my life. We're going to celebrate again at Caravan of Dreams - in the back room. It's a relaxed, laid back, organic and vegan food restaurant. It's moderately priced with a large selection of unique and tasty menu choices.

DATE: Tuesday October 20, 2009
TIME:: 7:30PM
LOCATION: Caravan of Dreams Restaurant 405 East 6th Street between 1st Avenue and Avenue A (Close to 1st Ave.) in Manhattan. The restaurant phone is: 212 254-1613.
DIRECTIONS: Take the F train to 2nd Avenue, and walk north to 6th Street. Or take the L Train to 1st Avenue and walk south to 6th Street. Or take R or N to 8th Street and walk east and south. Or take the 6 Train to Astor PLace and walk east and south..

Please RSVP as soon as you can, by Sunday 10/18/09 latest, so I can give Caravan an accurate count for Tuesday!

By the way, please don't purchase a card or a gift. If you can be there, your presence is what counts! If you would like to do something else, the birthday present I would most appreciate would be if you made a tax deductible donation payable to We, The World! (www.WeTheWorld.org/donate), address:
We, The World
211 East 43rd Street Suite 710
New York, NY 10017

With love and gratitude,
Rick
