Welcome to the Living Science List!
The primary focus of this list is to discuss living science books for homeschoolers and children of all ages. Although this is a secular list, membership is open to anyone who loves or doesn’t love teaching science as long as you’re thoughtful and tolerant of other members’ beliefs.
You may find it helpful that there are science booklists and useful links to be explored in the Files, Database and Links sections.
An idea of what's on-topic: Secular, living science books, websites and documentaries. Secular, living textbooks or curriculum. Free science curriculum. How to “secularize” non-secular materials. Cool science experiments. Science kit reviews. Kid-friendly, parent-tested science websites. Science fiction. Science resources that overlap with nature study, nature journaling, art, music, math, history, language, poetry, etc.
This is NOT the place for evolutionist vs creationist or religious or political debates, flamers, spammers, email address harvesters, advertisers and anyone with intentions that are not related to sharing or asking about homeschooling resources.
When possible, please include the relevant book/ movie titles as post subject. This aids archiving. If a particularly good book has a religious slant, tell us about it anyway, with suggestions on making it secular.
What is a living book? Generally, we agree that it is engaging, difficult to put down, well-researched, sometimes beautifully illustrated, and written by an authority on, or at least someone very passionate about the subject.
Homeschool, Science, Secular, Living Books, Living Science, Charlotte Mason, Well Trained Mind, Classical Education, Waldorf, Montessori, Thomas Jefferson Education, Eclectic, Relaxed, Child-led, Delight Directed, Unschooling.
