Description

Birds and birding in the county of Merseyside, UK.

Merseyside, made up of the boroughs of Sefton, Liverpool, Knowsley, St Helens and Wirral, has a wide range of habitats: The River Mersey at the heart of the county; the Sefton sand dunes and pine woods in the north; the St Helens mosslands in the east; the industrial docklands and urban areas; the varied coastline of Wirral, including sites at the end of the Wirral Peninsular, which are considered some of the best sites in the country for watching Leach's Petrels and other seabirds in autumn, and the Dee Estuary Hilbre Island to the south. The result is a county with unlimited opportunities for birding. Often underwatched and underrated, this forum hopes to bring to the forefront birding in Merseyside.
Please feel free to use this forum to take part in general discussions on anything to do with birds, birding or other forms of fauna/flora - sightings, questions etc - in Merseyside.
