This group is made up of Lingit (Tlingit) speakers, parents, students, teachers and professors, artists, historians and storytellers, people all over Alaska and the United States. Not all of us are Native by birth, but all are interested in and connected to the language, the culture and the people of Southeast Alaska.
Long ago we shared knowledge and information around the campfire. Today we communicate with electronic technology and it keeps our culture strong. It's not quite the same, but as our elders have always said: "If my great grandfather had a chainsaw available he wouldn't hesitate to use it."
This email group has been going for over 5 years now. It is an opportunity to ask questions or just listen in to other peoples questions and information. If for any reason you need to be removed from the group list, just let me know and I will make it happen!
