I haven't been able to stop by and check the board recently, but is there
anything planned for Samhain/Hallowe'en night at the land trust? I've frequently
attended Samhain drum circles and fire circles, and was hoping something was
planned for this upcoming one....

I still get posts from the group, but as I am now living in KS again I do not
get to attend the circles.
For those of you who may remember me, I'm the drummaker who also spins fire.
Used to hang with the spinners alot but would come down and drum occasionally
too.
I started a FanBook page on FaceBook so I could post the Drums I have for sale
along with the other things I make.

Howdy again!

If you're planning to attend next weekend's Land Trust fundraiser, can you plug
in and help out for a two-hour shift at any point in the day? Please contact our
volunteer coordinator Sunshine at 678-508-6632 or aimeeallard@... and
let her know what you'd like to help with and when.

Another way to help is to bake something for the bake sale. You can bring it at
any point throughout the day (or even earlier if you can't come on the 24th --
coordinate with Sunshine).

And you still have a week to design and build a mini-golf hole! Contact Genise
at genisejoy@... for details.

Of course you can also help by forwarding yesterday's email, printing out the
attached flyer, or just passing the word-of-mouth to anyone interested in a fun
Saturday -- especially folks with kids who like dressing up!

Hope to see you there. peace, Wing

FUN AT THE LAND TRUST! COSTUMES ENCOURAGED!

Come on over to the Land Trust for our fall fundraiser on Saturday, October 24.
To help fund our new greenhouse and our purchase of the Pond, we are suggesting
a donation of $5.00, plus an extra $1.00 for kids. (Of course we would never
want you to feel limited by these amounts!)

It begins with a "Peace Parade" at 10:00 am, starting at the Pond Overlook.
(Park on the street and enter at 321 Nelms. Ave, or through the Land Trust.)
This is an approximately 1-kilometer procession around the neighboring streets
and back to the Land Trust – children and costumes encouraged! Bring bells,
chimes, whistles, drums, shakers etc. Kids are also invited to collect pledges
for finishing the entire route (see link below).

Following that will be a variety of family-friendly activities around the Pond,
including mini-golf, sack races, craft fair, bake sale, petting zoo, reptile
show-and-tell, and an improvisatory performance by the Beacon Dance Company. We
are asking a small donation for each activity. Lunch will be available, and
vendors will be set up on the Overlook. Musical entertainment will feature
Victor Johnson, the Land Trust All-Stars, and the Nashvillain Family Band. At
4:30, the famed Atlanta Sedition Orchestra will lead a procession up the hill to
the Land Trust.

Entertainment on the stage will begin at 5:00, along with "dinner under the
stars," featuring barbecue, a veggie option, and beverages. The evening
entertainment lineup will feature Hoboitch, The Owls, Brian Lavelle & Jonathan
Moore, Porchcrop, and the Electric Cod Peace.

A variety of neighborhood businesses have contributed prizes for a raffle.
Tickets are $1.00 and winners will be announced throughout the day.

If you can volunteer to help out with the event, please contact Sunshine at
678-508-6632 or aimeeallard@.... Bakers, if you can contribute something
to the bake sale, bring it at any point throughout the day. And if you’d like to
try your hand at creating a mini-golf hole, contact Genise at
genisejoy@....

Please respect our neighbors by parking responsibly. Orange cones in a parking
spot mean it is reserved for residents. Walk, bike, skate, carpool or ride MARTA
if you can. Anyone who parks at Clifton Sanctuary, 369 Connecticut Ave. (four
blocks away) will receive a free raffle ticket.

Remember, you are the “Community” in our name! For more information, contact us
at info@....

Hi!   My name is Tamara and I stopped by the Lake Clarie Community Land Trust a week ago because I had lost my turquoise ring at the drum circle the previous night.  I am attaching a picture of the ring so that in case you do find it, it'll be easy to recognize.  I don't know if I'll be able to make it to the next drum circle, so I was hoping someone could ask about it in my place.  I know it's just a possession, but it's special to me and it's from Europe so I really appreciate any help in finding it.  Also, thanks for hosting the drum circles.  They are awesome!

Howdy, neighbors --

The first drum circle of October is tomrrow night, which means the following
day, Sunday, Oct. 3, you're invited to join us for a Volunteer Play-Date!

We’ll be gathering from 4:00-6:00 pm. Pizza will be provided when we finish.
Bring drinking water and work gloves if you have some.

There's always work to do at the Land Trust, and a few dedicated volunteers are
out there every day making the continual improvements we all have noticed. This
monthly volunteer get-together is our chance to give something back. As usual,
we have a lot of exciting projects going on. Hope you can join us!

Thanks, Wing

I would be honored to bring my suburban-dwelling, private-schooled family to celebrate how your family chooses to live life!!!  This show is nuts and the reality is all in the editing.  Wonder what they would do when they find out the "normal" people want what you have?!?

Would you like to share this crazy Wife Swap experience with us and be on tv as a drum circle participant?

So we are well on our way to filming - the crew for Wife Swap comes to our house on Oct 11 and begins to film our life. They would really like to have 2 circles: 1 on 10/12 before McKenzie gets swapped and 1 on 10/16 (not set in stone) with the "new mom." They would love as many folks as possible to gather round and make it real. It entails signing a release to be on tv and being willing to drum or dance on camera. And, of course, being willing to let your true self shine forth and demonstrate the glory that is our community!

Because it is surreality, it would not be a long night on either occasion - maybe an hour or 2.

We are protecting the LT and not identifying it as the LT - we are referring to it as the Green Space and its true location is not revealed.

If you are willing to help us out, please let McKenzie know as the producer would like to have as many folks possible on board for her planning purposes. Please feel free to spread the word and invite others - we just need to know as much in advance as possible though you are also welcome to show up the day of a

Many blessings and much gratitude,

Howdy!

So, this is what I'm thinkin':

ParadeArtworks: Giant Skeleton Puppet Building Workshop

October 3 & 4.  1-6.

We will offer to help anyone build a skeleton puppet.  We have the tools and technology, they'll be asked to bring some materials and donate $5.  We will split this.

This is 30 max using the Gorilla Grill and nearby picnic tables.  Any of us not engaged in this, can work on our float.

Snallygaster Float Building partnered with the Yacht Club

October 10 & 11. 12-5ish  Then we'll go to the Candler Park Festival.  This is just for us & you & the Yacht Club and anyone we collect along the way.  It's not a publicly announced workshop.  It's a large fun community art project and imagination game.  I think you'll love having it around and the Krewe loves being at the Land Trust.  But please know that it is a big active mess!  Very large strange things will be hanging around.  We need a place to park the float trailer, if we're lucky, for a week.  If there's really bad weather, we might need to move things to cover.  I absolutely have other float building locations - please only host it because you want to!  I can ask the Krewe to donate an impact fee.  It did cross my mind that we could tap our musician friends for a Snallygaster benefit.  The blue grass band, Whoa Nelly will be playing in the parade with us and are writing a Snallygaster song!

From the 12th-the 16th, some of us will be finishing the float in the evenings.

Lemme know what you think about all that and if you'd like to meet?

I thought some of you might dig this djembe drumming with 7 fire dancers youtube video. Drumming to fire is amazing. It's about 6 minutes long with fire hula hoops and all kinds of cool stuff going on. We don't usually get this many going at once.

Here is the link to it, or you can also go to YouTube and just search on the title and it will come up:

The vid is from the Clearwater Beach drum circle. Fire spinners, poi, & more. It's a spontainious gathering, and we don't get this many every week, but sometimes it happens and it's fantastic. Just for the love of performing and playing. In this clip, we were drumming to a Bleldi - Zaffah variation:

Boom chick-a chick, Boom Boom (pause) chick-a-chick- a Boom chick-a chick, Boom Boom (pause)chick- a-chick-a Boom etc.

The circle is Saturday nights around 10pm by pier 60, Clearwater Beach, FL. If you're ever down here on vacation, come check it out sometime.

Howdy y'all -- come out and play!

The Land Trust needs your help this Sunday, Sept. 20, from 4:00-6:00 pm. The
best way to be a part of our community is by taking part in the work as well as
the play. Here's your chance to pitch in and help keep the Land Trust beautiful
and evolving. It's only two hours, and we'll be serving pizza when we're done.
Bring work gloves and drinking water.

(As you no doubt know by now, these work days are scheduled for the day after
every Drum Circle, just to make them easy for you to remember!)

Hope you can make it --
peace & love, Wing
