Attention Attending Arrowmen,

Unfortunately, not enough people signed up to come to the Chapter Fellowship Day
to secure a group package. This will result in the price of the event changing
from $15.00 to $20.00. Please bring cash because Mulligans does not accept
personal checks. Also, to ensure a uniform appearance, please wear your Chapter
t-shirt to the event. This will allow us to better keep track of who is in our
group.

To any and all Scouts, Scouters, Venture Scouts, Arrowmen, and even parents...
 
As part of the upcoming Centennial celebration, Los Angeles Area Council has asked each district to participate in "Pay It Forward", a council-wide series of service projects in which Boy Scouts go out into the community to remind the public that "a scout in helpful."
 
This weekend, Thunderbird district is doing its "Pay It Forward" project by serving meals to the needy this Saturday and Sunday at the Union Rescue Mission in downtown Los Angeles.  Each T-bird Troop had a different shift, and everyone here thought the 4:30 Saturday dinner shift was covered, but we just found out it's not.  So, we need to find 15 scouts and/or parents over the age of 12 who can serve one shift of meals.   We have five volunteers so far, which means WE NEED TEN MORE to keep our commitment to the Union Rescue Mission and not risk the reputation of the BSA and its century-long tradition of public service.
 
If anyone connected to scouting, adult or teen, active or former, scout or parent, is available to help tomorrow afternoon, even one person would be appreciated.  If you are available, please contact Chris Hislop, who is coordinating the shift through Troop 927, at 310-962-7433, or contact Debbie Larson, the Thunderbird Pay It Forward Chair at 310-913-0388.  Chris has also offered to muster a carpool from Westchester to the Rescue Mission for those who are willing to help but don't want to drive into Downtown.
 
Any help would be warmly welcomed.

Sam Croft, a Lakota Arrowman and former Chapter Officer, is having his Eagle project in July and needs some help.  Here are the datails:
 
What: Removing Barbed wire fence along a hiking trail. we will also be replacing metal posts with smaller wooden posts.
When: Sunday, July 12th,  8:00am to  4pm (we need people for all OR part of the day so come when you are able to)
Where: Forrestal Nature Reserve (Turn onto Forrestal Dr off of Palos Verdes Drive South. There will be Some Marked Signs)
What to Bring: Long Pants and shirt, hiking boots, work gloves

Section Conclave is 11-13 September at Camp Verdugo Oaks near Castaic, CA.  If you have never been to a Conclave it is a gathering of Lodges in Fellowship, games, and competition.  The early bird discout will end on 1 August so you should sign up soon.  There is loads more information on the Section website.  You can also register and pay at the website.
 
 
I hope you will join me at Section Conclave as it will be a lot of fun.  Our very own Garrett Maldoon is one of the Officers running the Conclave.

Attention Youth and Adult Arrowmen,

We are a Brotherhood of Cheerful Service, so we are going to be serving Chili at
the August Roundtable. Roundtable is held in that large gymnasium down the hall
from the room where we normally hold our meetings. I need 8 volunteers (2 adults
and 6 youth) to fill three different shifts. The first shift is preparing the
equipment and food and runs from 6:00-7:30. The second shift is actually serving
the chili  from 7:15-8:30. The final shift is clean-up 8:15-9:00. Each shift
needs to by filled by 2 youth and 1 adult (we already have 1 adult for the first
shift). Please be aware that the first shift is the only one that does not run
during our Chapter Meeting. If you are a newer Arrowman, but still want to help,
I encourage you to take the first shift so that you can make a choker at the
Chapter Meeting. If you are interested in helping please respond to this message
as soon as possible with your name, contact information, and what shift you
would like to work.

Lakota Chapter, 2010 Officer Nominations will begin at the September Chapter Meeting, September 15, and will end on the date of the October Chapter Meeting, October 17. For the Nominations, all arrowmen who wish to be nominated for a position, elected or appointed, must fill out the Nomination Form in the "Files" section of the Yahoo Group Web page. These forms must be in by the October Chapter Meeting. On the date of the October Chapter Meeting, the nominations will be closed, and the 2010 Chapter Elections will begin. There are 4 elected positions: Chief, Vice Chief, Sachem, and Treasurer. The other positions are appointed by the incoming Chief.

The time has come to elect the 2010 CEC.  This Tuesday at our October Chapter
Meeting we plan to hold our 2010 election.  In order to do so we must have a

This year's Chapter Elections occurred during the October Chapter Meeting on October 20, 2009. For quorum we needed 20 youth, and we had a total of 23 youth voting.

For Chapter Chief, David Dye was elected as the 2010 Lakota Chapter Chief.

For Vice Chief, Brian Major was elected as the 2010 Lakota Vice Chief.

For Sachem, Alexander Popken was elected as the 2010 Lakota Sachem.

And lastly, for Treasurer, Roman Ventura was elected as the 2010 Lakota Treasurer.

Hey Everybody,

Our annual chapter spring fellowship outing is right around the corner. 
Fellowship outings are events during the year where Arrowmen get together to
have fun with no work involved.

This year we will be attending the Snow Camp at Forest Lawn (see details below).
We will have the opportunity to sleep in the staff cabins and participate in
many snow related activities. This is a Venture Crew weekend.  We are as OA
Lakota Chapter Venture Crew 1994.  You are invited for fellowship weekend which
is Sat morning (you don't have to get up early) through Sun afternoon. All meals
will be provided by the camp as well as sleeping in beds in a heated cabin.
There is also a Rock Climbing Wall and Movies in the evening.

For those of you who are attending Winter Camp on March 6-7, 2010, there will be carpools going up to Forest Lawn Scout Reservation.

We will be meeting at 9:00 AM in the parking lot near Ralph's at Lomita and Western.  Look for Tim's truck.

Please bring the clothes and sleeping stuff you need for this fun over-nighter in the mountains.

I have uploaded a new Lakota roster. It is now more pleasing to the eye and
accurate. But with this many people, there are bound to be a few errors, so
