Welcome to The Lakeside Neighbor Watch Yahoo! Group, a developing collective of residents in the Lakeside District of Downtown Oakland. We are interested in knowing and protecting our neighbors from the perils of violent crime and major earthquakes.

No patrols or duties are required other than being willing to report violent crime to the Oakland Police Department. We have eyes and ears on Jackson Street and are now expanding our social safety net. To look out for our neighbors, we get to know our neighbors. To this end we encourage all of you to start with your floor and building in your own way. Throw a building or floor party and make some new friends on your hall. This site is one of many ways to network with your neighbors, to talk about emergency preparedness and general neighborhood issues.
