Hi Everyone-

So there has been a lot of space on the list lately. I am tempted to erase the
list all together but I have heard that there might be another ladyfest
happening in Denver and I would like to see it used to build feminist
community
in Denver. So I think I am at least going to change the settings so that only
certain people can post on it or so that posting have to be aproved. I feel
shitty about that because I don't want to be the ass hole that censors people
but I know these e-mails must be anoying. I don't even open my ladyfest mail
anymore because I assume it is going to be spam. I might also copy all of the
e-mails on to another list. If anyone has any objections please let me know.

much love,
Megan
P.S. I miss denver sooo much. Will be home soon. If anyone is thinking
of doing
another ladyfest in Denver please let me know. Our webhosting is about to
expire and I want to know if I should renew it.

what do ya think? I think it is mad cool from what I saw at my buddy’s house,

Basically you join their chat-room on their site it gives you a link to those
people online in the chat-room, their location, their picture, etc and at one
click you can start chatting to them over Webcam (even if you don't have one).
Pretty nifty stuff I think!

Hi ladyfesters (if anybody still reads this list),

Sorry to bother the list with this but I don't have that many denver contacts.
I have a request of a musical nature.  A singer-songwriter friend of
mine is playing some shows in Colorado (see my previous email about
Ember Swift, Andrea Gibson, and feminist art) and is looking to borrow,
barter, or rent some bass and guitar amps instead of shipping them from
Canada.

Do you or anybody you know have a basic amp you'd be willing to lend
for a day or two (next week, on the 24th or so)? Ember is a
professional touring musician so I'm sure the gear would be well cared
for, and generally a pretty good person.
Checkout emberswift.com to learn more and see if it's somebody you'd
want to share with.

Thanks so much!

Campus Feminist Alliance is excited to present:

* Singer-Songwriter Ember Swift
    Ember is a poignant songwriter, a prolific recording artist, a
relentless touring artist, a vibrant stage performer, and a fierce
political/social activist. She serves up songs of political and social
observation, environmental concern, queer life, and love, all with
thoughtful originality. As a highly accomplished musician, performer,
composer, businesswoman, and committed activist, Ember continues to
solidify her reputation as one of Canada?s truly substantial artists.

* Spoken-wordsmith Andrea Gibson
    Rousing audiences throughout the United States and Canada with her
poignant message and her genuine interest in generating change, her
words are powerful, compassionate, and inspiring. She is a queer

issues." She has shared the stage with such names as Leslie Feinberg,
Amy Goodman, Dennis Kucinich and KRS1. Andrea's poetry deconstructs the
foundations of the current political machine, highlighting issues such
as patriarchy, gender norms, white-supremacy, and capitalist culture.

   Feast your eyes as well as your ears on socially-conscious,
independent, feminist art.

The evening of feminist music and art will take place on Saturday 25
February, kicking off at 6pm in the Ramskeller of the CSU Lory Student

Environment, Weird Sisters West, and KRFC-FM. CFA is an alliance of
dedicated, committed, and active Campus Feminists. We come together to
empower each other with motivation, resources, and connections; to
educate about what feminism means to us; to provide a voice for
progressive and radical feminists who work for equality, social
justice, and diversity throughout CSU and the community of Fort Collins.

WHAT IS THE SHAKTI?

WHAT DOES THE GURU GIVE ME?

http://www.womanthouartgod.com/rasaguru.php

Rasa Von Werder
January 28, 2006

The Shakti Kundalini is all things to all people. It is God, the
Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, Divine Energy.

This Shakti has all the Power that is God's. Here are some of what it is:

*  FOOD

*  THE POWER OF GOD

*  INTELLIGENCE

*  HEALING POWER

*  EXORCIST POWER

* CLEANSING POWER (REMOVES ALL NEGATIVES INCLUDING DEPRESSION AND
ANXIETY)

* THE BLOOD OF GOD AND THE GURU

* MIND OR CONSCIOUSNESS OPENING, GIVER OF VISION

*  PRESENCE OF GOD

*  DIVINE LOVE

* IT IS EQUAL WITH GOD, THE THIRD PERSON OF THE HOLY TRINITY

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WHAT DOES THE SHAKTI GIVE ME?
It gives all things, as indicated;  mental, physical, and spiritual.
It gives life, health, healing, illumination and enlightenment, gifts
of vision, hope, confidence, faith, all that is good.  It also brings
harmony, serenity, zeal, all virtues.  There is no end to the good
Shakti brings, as there is no end to God and Goodness.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

WHY DO I NEED A GURU TO GET THIS? WHY DO I NOT SIMPLY GET IT STRAIGHT
FROM GOD?

That is the million dollar question. Many people claim they can get
it straight from God, but they aren't getting it in sufficient
quantities to cause a transition. The normal progress of kundalini
shakti is slow, and takes many years of striving to receive huge
amounts of shakti. In order to go from one chakra to another - a
transition - one needs a 'kick' or 'power surge.' One needs help to
speed things up.

The best way I can describe it is this. Either you go out into the
world on your own, with no help, make a living and attempt to lead a
life of prosperity. You can do it but it is arduous and you might not
even make it. Having a guru like Rasa Von Werder is like having a
parent or relative who bequethes you a great deal of money. With this
money you then go out and start a business, and then prosperity is
more likely to happen.

Your guru gives you the Holy Kick or Power Surge of the Shakti Kundalini.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
IS THE SHAKTI KUNDALINI RECEIVED FROM THE GURU PERSONAL OR IMPERSONAL?
  IS IT THE EXACT SAME THING AS I GET DIRECTLY FROM GOD THROUGH MY OWN
RESOURCES, OR IS IT DIFFERENT?
Although God is God, and God is One thing, yet God also Many things.
The power you get from your individual guru has the personal signature
or stamp of the guru.  What is that stamp?  I call it the SPIRITUAL
DNA of the guru.
I got that idea from Jesus Christ, leaving us His Body and Blood.
What did He leave us and how does It affect us?  He left us His
spiritual dna, and It affects us in a special way.  Within this dna is
His Gifts, especially Sacrificial Love, Healing, Obedience and Zeal -
all the things Our Beloved Lord is noted for.
When I did my lifelong sadhana with Jesus Christ, I accomplished full
union with Him and received all the gifts He (and also His Blessed
Mother) have to offer.  All the gifts that I am familiar with, which
Jesus and Mary give out, I have received.  These are some of the gifts
I can now transmit to others.
There are other gifts I also received from Christian saints and from
Yoga saints - many of them, including the Bliss of Nirvana.  (These
are written about on the site)
Each guru, saint or minister who has Holy Spirit Shakti to transmit,
has their own particular stamp of spiritual dna upon it.  So when you
receive the shakti from Rasa, you also receive Rasa.  Rasa and her
shakti are ONE.  There is no difference between Rasa and the shakti
that lives in her body and that is transmitted.  All shakti has
individual characteristics.  It is not one bland, eternally the same
Divine Energy.  What do I mean?
Shakti is like electricity or energy.  Energy can be used for
factories, for home use, for surgery.  It can turn into lazer beams.
It can become nuclear reactors for bombs or for peaceful power.
Energy which at one level can be impersonal and similar, can change
drastically according to how it is used.
The same energy is used to bring the born again experience and the
exorcism power, but the energy is used or changed into something
different.  I cannot explain exactly how it is different, but I know
that it is.  Nor can I point you to any particular scriptures in any
religion concerning this.  These are things I have learned from
experience and know by spiritual instinct, having the Divine Kundalini
surging strongly through my veins.
One way to explain the difference is the way that the WILL OF GOD
directs the energy. God channels the energy to heal a physical
ailment, to clean a filthy or injured soul, or to remove demons.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ARE ALL GURUS AND ENLIGHTENED SOULS THE SAME? DO THEY GIVE THE SAME
THING?  DO ALL TRANSMIT SHAKTI?

All these have similarities, but all are different. Not all ministers
of God minister in the same way.

God touches people in thousands of ways, and the way in which a person
is touched is how they minister. St. Paul spoke about the variety of
gifts and the variety of ministry. Some teach, some evangelize, some
pray (contemplatives), some do spiritual works of mercy and others
physical works. Some heal, some bring enlightenment. All have
different sorts of gifts, and they work accordingly.

Generally, gurus and faith healers are the ones who transmit shakti.
It is a good question why they would be chosen to do this special kind
of work.

I do not know all the answers, but I do know that God gives to each
what is best suited for them. Some people need EXTRAORDINARY gifts
and powers to survive the crosses that God puts upon them. Mysterious
are the ways of God. One thing I do know, the bigger your crosses,
the more help God will give you. The more responsibillity or work you
are willing to undertake for God, the more God will give you to work
with. Faith healers and shakti givers are willing to take risks or
chances that other ministers are not willing to take. It is a
traumatic business when people find out you are transmitting God,
delivering shakti which brings healing and enlightenment! Such gifts
are valuable and demanding. People covet these 'Gifts of Power' (and
yes, this includes miracles.) There is much persecution. (The
greater the anointing, the greater the persecution, Paul said to
Timothy.) Persecution comes from misunderstanding and jealousy. Many
faith healers in Christianity were harrassed by other ministers who
coveted the anointing.

Being more familiar with Christian faith healers than I am with Hindu
shakti givers, I can say that these people went through much trauma.
They reached out to God more than did anyone else because their lives
were terrible. These gifts were not given to people who lived
cushiony, comfortable lives.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CONCLUSION
For those who want to come closer to God, receiving the power of the
guru is one of the greatest decisions they can make.  The reason for
this is that if they do everything else, but have no guru, it will
take untold years to reach their goals.  Having a good guru, the
process speeds up dramatically.
Is There an Obligation to Receiving Rasa's Shakti?  Do I owe her
anything in any way?
There is no obligation whatever in receiving the Shakti of God through
Rasa.  In the bible it says,
'Freely you have received, freely give.'
There is no price that can be put on Holy Spirit power, by any means.
In fact, Rasa wants to tell you,
'GOD HAS ALLREADY PAID ME.  YOU OWE ME NOTHING.'
It is true that many gurus teach that GIVING is necessary and a good
thing.  Prasad, donations and the like, are not a bad thing to do.
God wants you to be charitable and grateful.  However, do not let this
be a stumbling block.  If you wish to give not one iota, it is
perfectly allright as far as I am concerned, as long as you follow God
the best you can. This is all I expect of you.
I believe that the most important thing is to receive the shakti, and
It will guide you.  It will take you where you have to go.  It will
teach you, illuminate you, inspire you, to all good things.  You
cannot be coherced into charity, it has to be voluntary.  I would like
to see the Shakti teach you and change you from within, and take you
to where you need to go.
You can receive this Shakti simply by installing Rasa into your heart.
  The instructions are on the devotee page.  Many people have done this
and miracles are happening!
Denver, CO 80205
Bring any portable project you would like to work on, or come and learn a new
craft!
Cross-stitch, embroidery, blackwork, tatting, crochet, knitting, victorian
ribbon work and
beading are all welcome and acceptable projects.
This week we will have a discussion about a location in Brighton that will allow
us to bring
our sewing machines and work on real sewing projects.  The idea is to create a
working
group where we can generate income for ourselves, and for the Brighton center by
the sale
of our wares.  This may feed into a larger project scheme taking shape which I
will discuss
with all of you that attend.
Blessings, April
VALENTINE'S DAY WOMEN & SEXUALITY EVENT
Coming Up Short: Women & Sexuality
Sunday, February 12, 2006   6:30 PM
Pioneer Theater (155 East 3rd Street New York, NY 10009)
Hot and Bothered: Feminist Pornography (Becky Goldberg)
Hot and Bothered: Feminist Pornography takes a rare and empowering look into the pornography industry and feminist community to see how they intertwine within the politics and poetics of female sexuality. It shows women who are committed to making and supporting pornography that includes their feminist values and will go up against an entire industry, stereotypes, and sexism to get what they want. Who better to claim the adult industry for themselves than the women it depends on?
In Her Image: Producing Womanhood in America (Julia Barry)
We are constantly bombarded with images and messages representing and
shaping the lives of women. What are their roots and meanings? How do they effect society's view of women? How do they influence women's lives? In Her Image poses these questions to American audiences through a multi-media format consisting of images accompanied by original songs. These images span a typical woman's lifespan and reveal the ways in which various marketplaces are interwoven to create a set of expectations and social requirements that tell women who to be and how to act, think, and feel.
Filmmakers will be available for Q&A after the films.
Tickets are $9 ($6.50 students/seniors) and can be purchased at http://www.altarmagazine.com. Goody bags filled with items from our sponsors will be distributed to all who attend.
BOOK SUBMISSIONS
Doing it in Strange Places... And Making Change:
Young Women Fighting for Social Justice
        A commonly asked question at social justice events is, "What can I do to get more involved?" This question is usually answered, according to third wave feminist writers Jennifer Baumgardner and Amy Richards, in one of three ways: send money, call politicians, and volunteer. Unfortunately, none of these foster a sense of investment in an issue or offer solutions for how to solve the injustices in the world. It also doesn't account for the lack of time, money and resources that these three answers require. What if we could just incorporate our politics into our every day lives? In fact, that is just what most activists do.
        In this anthology, we want to hear from young women from all walks of life who have found creative ways to use their passion (from writing to banking to being a homemaker) as an outlet for social justice activism. We seek to make activism accessible and inspire others to use the resources that they have to contribute to
social justice. Changing the world won't happen over night, so let's share our daily successes and strategies for making all of our visions of a better world possible. Tell us what worked and what didn't because all experiences are valuable. We want to be sure multiple voices and perspectives are represented in the anthology. Writers of all experience levels are encouraged to submit work. All work must be original and should not be published elsewhere.
Editor:
Mandy Van Deven is the editor and publisher of Altar Magazine
(www.AltarMagazine.com), a social justice publication focusing on art, music, culture, politics, and activism. She also works as the Director of Community Organizing at Girls for Gender Equity (www.gges.info), a grassroots organization in Brooklyn, NY working to create opportunities for girls and women to live self-determined lives. Mandy believes that all opinions are valuable and because her voice is loud, she works to help others raise their own voices.
