Ciao! We're glad to have you on the LaVecchia discussion list. In the interest
in promoting smooth communication flow without taking up an undue amount of
bandwidth or our fellow list members' time (and perhaps money), we strongly
suggest the guidelines below be followed. They'll be periodically re-posted as
a reminder.
1. No flames on list. FLAMERS MAY BE REMOVED PERMANENTLY FROM THIS LIST.
~(Please note: a courteous disagreement is not a flame. This is a discussion
list; varied opinions will be expressed.)
2. If problems arise between you and another list-member, please take any
personal communication off-list. We encourage you to seek out the LaVecchia
list owner or moderators to help mediate any misunderstandings or disputes.
They can be reached privately at:
~Gaia (List Owner) -
gaia99999@...
~Les (Moderator) -
LoosCanN@...
3. This list is for the discussion of Stregheria. Discussion of Paganism or
Witchcraft in general, except in how they may relate to Stregheria
(similarities, differences, etc.) is off-topic. While these may be interesting
subjects in and of themselves, there are quite a few other forums available to
explore them. Let's try to keep the focus of this list on Italian Witchcraft.
~(Please note: the current policy is to put "OT" in the subject line of anything
you post which does not fit the description above. That way those of us who
wish to maintain a focus on Stregheria can delete peripheral topics unread.)
4. This is not a list on which to look for spells or to trade recipes. The
very welcome exceptions to this are those recipes which *are* on-topic, such as
culinary traditions related to Befana's Day or other holidays.
5. Please do not post items such as petitions or virus warnings to the list, no
matter what they are about or how urgent the warning may appear. If you have an
off-topic post which you think should appear on the list, ask the owner or one
of the moderators for permission.
6. Please rigorously prune your responses. (Think "Atropos." <g>) Delete
everything that you're not specifically responding to. Delete or trim anything
that's not needed to help your readers see what you're referring to. But
remember to indicate whose points you are responding to.
7. Please don't send to the whole list when you are talking only to the person
who wrote the post you are answering.
8. Please avoid "Me too!" and "I agree!" posts. It's great to show support and
fellowship. But send that support directly to that individual privately. A
reply that states your agreement and then goes on to expand on how and why is
perfectly acceptable to post to the list.
9. When you change the topic in an on-going discussion, change the subject line.
Threads are easier to follow that way.
10. This list is set not to accept attachments in order to protect its members'
computers from viruses. (This includes the "forwarding" function available on
most mailing programs.) If you have text you'd like to share, cut and paste it
into a regular e-mail. If it is a picture (.jpeg, .gif), contact Les at
LoosCanN@... to have it placed in the LaVecchia list files. LaVecchia
members can then go view it in our archives. That URL is:

One way to visualize a large, unrestricted discussion list such as this one is
that it is a public auditorium with an open microphone. When you post onto this
list, you are speaking into the microphone and everyone in the room can hear
you. Hopefully what is said is of interest to most of the people in the room,
and is in fact directed to everyone, not one or two people. Every word
contained in your post is spoken aloud, including what you are quoting from a
previous post. If you ask a question, it should be with the idea that everyone
in the room is listening and is free to take up the microphone and answer it.
If you have a message or question for just one person in the room, you don't
speak it into the microphone. You contact that person *privately*. And as this
is a public auditorium with free passage in and out, there is no way to ensure
any information you divulge will not be spread *outside* this room.
Mille grazie,
The LaVecchia List Owner & Moderators
