Just a quick thank you to several members of this group and
especially Beevo for putting me in touch with Dirk van der Herik via
the November 2004 topic thread "Electronic defect need help!"

Dirk's modified circuit is easy to carry out, the parts are readily
available and cheap (cost me less than £10 / 16 Euros / $18), and,
most importantly, it works !!! There was only one minor alteration
to the circuit to get it to default to Northern hemisphere rotation.

I photographed and documented my application of Dirk's modification
and Dirk has kindly given me permission to publish it on my website,
which I will do over the next week or so.
