PLEASE CROSSPOST!
A scared, malnourished, small Jindo (white in color and may be wearing
a blue collar) found hiding in a parking lot today on Larchmont Blvd
got away from Animal Control and is in the Hollywood/Hancock Park
area. Last seen on N. Lucerne Blvd (one block West of Larchmont)
between Beverly Blvd and Melrose Ave.
This dog is so scared and needs help (appears to have a cut on front paw).
Please keep your eyes open for this poor dog!
The direct line to the North Central Animal Shelter is 213-485-9242.
Please email me with any sightings, updates, etc.
Thank you...
Sometime last night(1-11-07) several cars on the 400 block of North Gower were
ransacked. These cars were not locked so there were no forced entries or broken
windows. However, items were stolen. Please be aware and don't leave valuables
in your vehicles. Thanks, Georgea

This past Sunday between 12:30 PM and 1:20 PM my house was burglarized. They
broke into
my garage and stole a very valubable bike and bike equipement. A report was
filed with the
police and we have reason to believe it was someone who was "watching" my house.
They
were very deliberate about what they wanted and knew exactly which equipment to
take. If
you have any information about the crime or noticed anything please let me know.

Hi!
There are two remaining voter registration sessions for the March 14
Neighborhood Council Elections:
(Both are at the beautiful Ebell complex on Wilshire)
March 7 (Also the night for the candidate forum 7:00P to 9:00 P)
March 14 (Also the day of the election, polls are open from 7:00A to
8:00P). It's recommended that you register BEFORE Election Day to
minimize lines and wait times.
If you live, work or own property in the GWNC borders (see map at
http://www.greaterwilshire.org/site/files/GWNC2007MapFINAL.pdf), own
a business, are affiliated with a church or other religious or non-
profit organization, educate your children or rent an apartment
there, you are a stakeholder and eligible to vote (in up to two
categories) in this election.
If you're part of the Larchmont Village neighborhood, you're part of
the GWNC.
You must bring proof of your affiliation to the voter registration
(a Drivers License, payment invoice or booklet, business
registration, etc.)
You can find the various forms and lots of educational support
materials at http://www.greaterwilshire.org/site/.
I highly encourage all LVNA members, family and friends to
participate in the upcoming election.

Dear Neighbors,
Earlier this week, a neighbor placed outgoing mail (bills & checks in
payment) in her mailbox at her front door, in anticipation of the mail carrier
taking them to the post office. Within a half-hour, the outgoing mail was gone,
but the new mail had not arrived. Correctly deducing that the outbound mail was
stolen, the neighbor closed her bank account the same day and alerted the
credit reporting agencies for "fraud alert." Within days, the neighbor received
a call from the bank staff needing to review an attempted bill pay to a
wireless phone service in the amount of more than $200. Obviously the payment
was
not authorized and did not go through, but also obviously, someone had the
neighbor's bank account info and had begun to use it.
Please deposit your mail in a post office mail box or take it to the post
office when you have checks enclosed!

Dear LVNA
We have started a petition to upgrade the Robert L Burns Park on Beverly and Van
Ness.
The Nannies and Mothers who use the park have requested the following upgrades;
- A Shade Canopy Structure to provide shade to the children's sand area
- A self closing gate that small children are unable to open
- A proper toilet to replace the disgusting Port-A-John
- A Childrens Hand washing Area
In 2 hours today we collected 40 signatures at the park, we will collect more
over the
coming week. We are sending these to: Mark Mariscal, Superintendent of Metro
Region,
Dept of Parks and Recreation, 3900 West Chevy Chase Drive, LA, CA 90039
WE COULD REALLY USE YOUR HELP PLEASE! If anyone is interested in helping us
improve
this small park we would suggest the following;
Cut and paste our petition letter (below) into a word document and mail to Mark
Mariscal
(please adapt as necessary) or draft your own letter.
It would make more of an impact if we all sent our letters at the same time and
they
landed on his desk in one go. We suggest a MASS MAIL date of WEDNESDAY 2ND MAY
2007.
DATE: May 2nd 2007
Attention: Mark Mariscal
Superintendent of Metro Region
Dept of Parks and Recreation
3900 West Chevy Chase Drive
LA
CA 90039
Dear Mr. Mariscal
REFERENCE: ROBERT L BURNS PARK – REQUEST FOR UPGRADES
We / I are Mothers / Nannies who frequently attend the Robert L Burns Park on
Beverly and
Van Ness. The park is very popular with younger children as it has an enclosed
sanded
area with toddler sized play equipment.
We all enjoy the park however we would like to request the following upgrades to
the park
so that the children can utilize the park better.
• A shaded structure / canopy over large parts and particularly the north end of
the
sanded play area. There is little shade unless you come very early in the
morning (before
10:00a.m.) or very late in the afternoon (after 5:00)
• A "self-closing" entrance gate to the sanded area, which cannot be opened by
the
small children. Perhaps the latch could be located high on top of the gate.
• A proper toilet to replace the "Port-A-John"
• A hand washing area near the existing water fountain so children can wash
their
hands.
(PETITION PLUS PHOTOS OF PARK ARE BEING ATTACHED IN OUR PETITION)
It would also be helpful if you could email me and tell me if you have
participated so I can
gauge the support!
OR if you prefer, Mail your envelope to me and I will mail together with the
petition in one
big package. Samantha Karim 317, N. Wilton Place, LA, CA 90004.
Thanks
Samantha Karim
After getting feedback from people via email regarding the Robert L Burns park.
It has been
recommended that I get various local bureaucrats involved too.
I would like to therefore suggest that the letters are mailed to me (not to the
parks
superintendent) so I can present them to the local councilman who can then
assist me in
applying to the parks dept.
MY ADDRESS:
Samantha Karim

Thanking you in advance for your support
Sam
Dear Sam,
You might call or write Carolyn Ramsey. In case you do not have her email
address, it is carolyn.ramsay@....
There may be grants available from the Dept of Parks and Recreation. I
believe I saw information at the CD4 Office at Hollywood City Hall re: this.
Kind regards,
Patti

It's almost 11pm on a Sunday night and Paramount Studios is still
blasting music across the neighborhoods. I called the police an hour
ago who promised to dispatch. When I call Paramount security they are
extremely rude and unhelpful. This is not the first time that this has
happened. I have even contacted Tom LaBonge's office but I always get
a form response and his office has been completely unwilling to help
which really surprises me since this is a clear violation of the noise
ordinance.
Any suggestions on how to get this to stop? This is the first time
Paramount has done this.
Thanks,
Caitlin
I meant to write - This is NOT the first time that Paramount Studios has
done this. There have been numerous violations in the past with their late
night parties disturbing the neighborhood.

Unfortunately it's after midnight and the music is STILL blasting from
Paramount Studios. Help stop this disruptive behavior:
1. File a complaint with LAPD Officer Sollie by calling him at 213 793-
0709 - let him know that Paramount Studios has violated the Noise
Ordinance on several occasions. I spoke to the Hollywood Station and
this is the person that handles ongoing violations.
2. Complain to Tom LaBonge. Maybe if enough of us call or email his
office he will finally take this issue seriously:
email: councilmember.labonge@... phone: (213) 473-7004
Thanks,
Caitlin
