Hi Guys,

We've had another slalom place come available due to illness! (now space for 2
people)

It'll be fantastic if someone can fill these two spots for us - the more people
we have competeing the more points we get! It'd be awesome to see some of you
guys who aren't signed up yet...

Talk to James at the pool if you've got any queries!

Guys,

As we have had a late drop out of the slalom entries, is there anyone
who would like to fill in the gap?
You don't need to be an experienced paddler, but you do need to have
been down at least one river!

Let us know ASAP if you're keen!

Hello everyone,

Good luck to everyone going to slalom, dont forget lots of warm stuff and
remember to keep the party spirit alive! James and Mary have all the final
details and dont forget to check out the forum.

Pool session on thursday, 7.15 at sheds to help take stuff over please. Please
please please remember your helmets (or get one out of sheds). I will find the
most unattractive/uncomfortable ones for those caught without one :) Can I also
ask you to be extra friendly to the lifeguards, they really put up a lot with
our frolics in the pool...

If anyone is wanting to go to Scotland and has not signed up yet, time is
running out! See Flic asap.

If you've missed any paddling recently, may I suggest you check out Ben's videos
on facebook/youtube. Lots of great action shots :)

The sunny weather recently and has got a few people thinking about the summer,
have a peek at the forum.

I think there must be some membership forms lurking out there, could I have them
please? (If you've lost it, this is the link

/www.lucanoe.info/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/new-members-form09.doc) Also, if
there is anyone who has had a couple of taster sessions, but feel that they
would like to stay, you can join at the sports centre Liv uni students £25,
everyone else £40...I'm afraid you must join before you go on any trips.

Just finally, if anyone has any ideas or suggestions for anything to do with the
club, please feel free to let us know, just tell one of us, pop along to a
meeting or drop us a line at lucanoecommittee@yahoogroups.com - it's your club!

However, as the yahoo spam filter doesn't seem to be very effective at the

We can always turn it back on later...

It is compulsary that EVERYONE in a kayak in the pool on thursday evenings MUST
wear a helmet.

We have tons of helmets in the sheds, so everyone must make sure they bring them
out, and that the helmets are adjusted to fit properly. The helmets are for your
own safety.

The fact that someone did not comply with a pool side Life guard is really
pathetic and that person (you know who you are) should go and apologise for back
talking to the life guard. The Pool regulations are there for a reason, and it's
the life guards job to make sure the rules are applied.

Anyone seen not wearing a helmet will be asked to leave the pool, and if they do
not comply then we are in the process of loosing our thursday evening pool
session altogether.

WEAR A HELMET!

Right Everyone

There is a White Water Satey Course happening on the 13th-14th March.

The BCU White Water Safety and Rescue is a two-day course which covers all the
basic safety and rescue techniques required for white water paddlers of any
experience.

I need an idea for numbers of who wants to attend - I'm looking for people who
go on lots of trips and prefferably have a future in the club. It would be
really good to see lots of people do this, and it will boost your own confidence
in a kayak. Most of this is not done in a kayak - so any ability is ok.

It will be quite expensive, but we will get the guild to subsidize as much as
possible. If you are interested send me an email asap.

At comittee meeting these people already have their names down:

Finn, Sam, Flic, Hannah

Secondly:

My List for Scotland consists of:

James Pattison
Tim Good

James Roy
Racheal Yale
stuart Earnshaw
sam hardy
Flic meares
Tom Leyland

No one thinks they are meant to be coming but not on that list?

Hey Guys,
Hope the exams went ok for you all and you can now relax a bit more!
We havn't had chance for a big night out since the new year but with AU night on
Wednesday
everyone can make up for some of that drinking you've all

With February being the "love month" for all you smooth romantics in the club,
the theme is
going to be Cupid! Aslong as your have a little bow and arrow (cardboard?) then
anything
else goes really! bring some imagination to it, you come could traditionally
naked...with some wings maybe,
or just stick to a red and white theme!! Up to you guys!

We will aim for 9pm in Walkabout, or 8ish at 133 lawrence road.
Get your AU Tickets ASAP as usual incase they sell out.

See you on Wednesday folks!!

dearest LUCC,

Our easter trip to Scotland is fast approaching-

Its the 1st-5th April in Fort William, Scotland. (Easter weekend, so ask family
permission)

We stay in a Bunkhouse, aruond 40 of us will bunk up together for some sweet
paddling and hard core boozing.

We head up in a party bus of the mini variety and a big van. Cars are welcome to
make their own way up, and if extra peops want to come, camping can be
available.

Price: £120 for 5 days paddling in Scotland, transport and accomodation.

Everyone who comes to paddle needs to be confident on grade III - it is possible
to portage the hard bits, and anyone who wants to come and paddle a little and
party LOTS is more than welcome.

I need sufficient river leaders to help with some less capable paddlers, so
PLEASE can some river leaders volunteer?

I want to take everyone, but for river saftey, it does depend on what river
leaders I can utilize.

At this point I have to emphasize that places are first come first serve basis,
so email if ya wanna come asap.

Last year was a right ball, ask anyone, it was hot and sunny. 2008 however it
SNOWED!

Its a FREAKING AWSOME TRIP - dont miss out!!!

There will be a Pre- scotland training day on a more local river probably the
weekend of the 20-21st March. ATTENDANCE IS NON NEGOTIABLE.

Flic Meares

Hello everybody,

Welcome back and hope exams are going well for you all. Theres a lot going on,
so get these dates in your diary and keep checking the forum at www.lucanoe.info
as thats where all the info will be. Pool sessions have already started so come
down to escape revision and come down to the pool.

Sunday 31st January: slalom practice at HPP

Weekend 13-14th Feb: slalom

Sunday 21st Feb: polo at the docks

Weekend 27-28th Feb: polo in Cardiff

Weekend 6-7th March: NSR

Saturday 20th March: pre-Scotland safety day. COMPULSARY IF YOU GO TO SCOTLAND

Weekend 13-14th March: Safety course

1-5th April: Scotland trip

A couple of things....

Pool session: great to see so many people down. Please could everyone help
take stuff up to the pool at 7.15ish and help bring it down afterwards. It
really doesnt take much time to bring one thing down which is what it would be
if everyone helped.

Kit: We have a lot of new kit in sheds which isnt being looked after. A lot of
time and thousands of pounds went into organising buying it and we are VERY
lucky to have it. If you use something it is your responsibility to put it
away/hang it to dry. If you dont do this, not only will the kit be horribly wet
and muddy when you next use it, but it will be ruined and we wont have the money
to replace it for years.

Slalom: see James, Mary or the forum. It would be a very good idea to go to
the practice day if you're entries (you should know who you are...) And have
fun :)

Polo: See Emily asap if you want to go to Cardiff. Its a great weekend with an
excellent party.

NSR: essentially just a big party, but if you want to show off your moves, see
Flic.

Scotland: this is one of the biggest trips of the year and is open to everybody
providing we have enough safety-types to make it fun and safe for everyone (but
if you're fresher get on as many trips as you can for practice). But this trip
isnt just about the paddling, theres so much more to do...and is in the very
capable hands of Flic.

Alps: sometime in the summer...more info at some point....

Hannah

The plan for Sunday:

In Stu's car - Stu, Mark and Hannah

In Lloyd's car - Squirrel, Scott, Kaylia, Ben (if he can get off work)

The plan is to go to the lake district leaving at 7am from sheds so make
sure you are there by 6.50am.

We will do an easy river and then a hard river and a harder one if there's
time.

Can everybody that is coming please confirm with me via text message before
1pm tomorrow, thanks.
