This moderated Group serves as a discussion site and information exchange for hikers and backpackers on the Lone Star Hiking Trail (LSHT). The LSHT is located in the Sam Houston National Forest (SHNF), one hour north of Houston, Texas. The 128 miles of "footpath only" trails stretch from north of Montgomery, passing south of Huntsville and Coldspring, and ending northeast of Cleveland, Texas.
The Lone Star Hiking Trail Club, www.lshtclub.com, is affiliated with the American Hiking Society and offers leader-led group hikes and trail maintenance activities on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. Wear sturdy footwear and bring lunch, WATER, fanny or daypack, rain gear, insect repellent, and any other specialty items you may need during the hike. We are usually out of the woods by 1:30.
