Recently,a person has posted links to a website that appears to be of
child pornography. We have deemed that this posting was inappropriate
and have removed it from LRAD Central.
While we have no set rules on what is appropriate and not, we would
like to set some ground rules here. All messages that speaks out in
hatred against any group of race, religion, gender, and sexual
preference will not be allowed, and will be deleted on the spot
without any warning. Also any pornographic or adult material will not
be allowed, which includes, but not limited to, pictures and website
links. Also, flame wars or name-calling will not be tolerated.
Continued posting of inappropriate messages will be grounds for
dismissal from this group.

DISABILITY AND QUEERNESS: The First International
Conference
June 2-3, 2002 at San Francisco State University
In the last three decades disabled people and
lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgendered people have taken to the
streets and entered the academy. We've built movements for
social change, created culture and community, and shaped our
own theory and analysis. But the issues, concerns, and
experiences of queer disabled people have rarely been placed
front and center. The Queer/Disability Conference aims to bring
together artists, activists, and scholars to explore the matrix
formed by queerness and disability.

Hi,
I am on a committee for ImageArt, which is a program under the gay/
lesbian/bi/transgender film orgnaziation - ImageOut. I am focusing on
recruiting the interpreters and gay/lesbian/bi/transgendered poets or
writers. ImageArt needs poets/writers (Deaf or Hearing) who are gay,
bisexual, lesbian, or transgendered who may be interested in performing
or reading their work next summer. ImageArt also needs interpreters for
the artshow and poetry reading night next summer. Besides ImageArt,
ImageOut do need interpreters for their upcoming movies upon requests,
but not only the movies, also during their meetings.
So, if any one of you know who is gay/bi/lesbian/transgendered poets/
writers, please let me know. I also would like to ask if any one of you
know the interpreters who might be interested in interpreting the
events. Let me know about that, too.
Thank you!

We do have a chat room, and all you need to do is to log into the
chat
room and see if anyone's there. We may set up a specific time for
everyone to get together and chat, once the group grows in it's
membership. Hope this answers your question. If you have any further
questions about Yahoo! Groups in general, you can check out:
http://help.yahoo.com/help/groups .
Hi Barry,
Look up LRAD Central. I finally got in. There is a
question I asked in there. Go and see if it is posted.
Ok?
Thank you so much for your efforts to get me in.
Have a gay, gay, gay day!

I finally found this. Thank you! I appreciate your time to help me
out.
Now I have a question: How can I know if the Chat is alive with
anyone
online? I opened and didn't see any - assuming no one is online, but
yet what or how would I know? Let me know about that. Ok?
Thanks a lot!

Whoops!
I typed out the address wrong... the correct address is:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LRAD_Central
Laurie, Done! :-)
Hi Laurie,
I received Barry's e-mail with the YahooGroup Club's
full address: http... y' know, but when I clicked on
it, it ended up saying "Data not found". I then typed
the whole address at the very top of Netscape, still
says "Data not found". I am puzzled. What full address
do you have? Barry gave me
http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/LRAD_central. That is
what's not working for me.
Let me know what you have and hopefully it can work
out.
Still cannot open the door to join you and all. Ha!
Believe me, I am patient. Smile!
Thanks and take care!

Eddie, your options are set to "Individual Email". This means that
whenever a message is posted to LRAD Central, you will get a e-mail of
that message. You can change your option to "No Mail/Web Only" so that
you can just come to the website to read new messages, or to the "Daily
Digest" option to read a digest of messages for the day. In order to
change your options, you will need to go to http://groups.yahoo.com/
mygroups . This will bring you to a page that lists groups that you are
a member of. This only works for those who are registered as a Yahoo
member. If you subscribe via e-mail only and didn't sign up as a
member, check out this web page: http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/groups/
groups-03.html . Simply replace "groupname" with "LRAD_Central". That
message we sent out recently is actually our first message in our new
home.
With Yahoo Groups, LRAD Central (listed as "LRAD_Central"; please note
the underscore) works both as a website like the old Yahoo Club, AND as
a e-mail based mailing list. I'm planning on using the capabilities of
the Yahoo Group and other features of the Internet to expand on
communication lines for LRAD members.
Hope this helps you understand what's going on. :-)
-Barry
Hi,
I am a bit confused. I bookmarked LRAD Central, the
newer one and already joined. Yet I do not see such
Yahoo chat going on or whatever. I would like to ask
you do you mean you created another DIFFERENT LRAD
Center website that connects to the international RAD
groups? Please clarify this for me if you can.
Have a great day and thank you for letting me know
this.
Peace,
Eddie Swayze

Welcome to the new LRAD Central, now under Yahoo Groups! We moved here
from Yahoo! Clubs since it had more features over the Clubs version.
Lilac Rainbow Alliance of the Deaf is a chapter of the Rainbow Alliance
of the Deaf serving Rochester, New York and the Monroe County area. A
big hello to all!
We hope to turn this group into a big electronic meeting place for LRAD
members, friends, and allies of the deaf gay, lesbian, bisexual, and
transgendered community! While our membership is limited to the Monroe
County area, we welcome friends and allies of LRAD internationally!
