There is none other commandment greater than these.
Mark 12:31
(which commandments, you ask? see 3/1/99 SOTD, Matthew 22:36-39. --- Lillian)
i'm sending this one a tad early so I can lock up the office and keep the
kids out of their toys long enough to clean out the toy area! just in case
you wondered....
Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
Matthew 22:36-39
And behold, as the tree beginneth to grow, ye will say: Let us nourish it
with great care, that it may get root, that it may grow up, and bring forth
fruit unto us. And now behold, if ye will nourish it with much care it will
get root, and grow up, and bring forth fruit.
...if ye will nourish the word, yea, nourish the tree as it beginneth to
grow, by your faith with great diligence, and with patience, looking
forward to the fruit thereof, it shall take root; and behold it shall be a
tree springing up unto everlasting life.
And because of your diligence and your faith and your patience with the
word in nourishing it, that it may take root in you, behold, by and by ye
shall pluck the fruit thereof, which is most precious, which is sweet above
all that is sweet, and which is white above all that is white, yea, and
pure above all that is pure; and ye shall feast upon this fruit even until
ye are filled, that ye hunger not, neither shall ye thirst.
Alma 32:37, 41-42
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are
honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever
things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any
virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Philippians 4:8
(An ISP down. A day late. Again, apologies. -- Lillian)
Sorry this is so late! Long day. Long story.
Behold, my soul delighteth in the things of the Lord; and my heart
pondereth continually upon the things which I have seen and heard.
2 Nephi 4:16
Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting
may appear unto all.
Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in
doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
1 Timothy 4:13, 15-16
I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work
of thy hands.
Psalms 143:5
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the
stars, which thou hast ordained;
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou
visitest him?
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him
with glory and honour.
Psalms 8:3-5
And the inhabitants of Zion also shall remember their labors, inasmuch
as they are appointed to labor, in all faithfulness; for the idler
shall be had in remembrance before the Lord.
D&C 68:30
Wherefore, be faithful; stand in the office which I have appointed unto
you; succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the
feeble knees.
And in doing these things thou wilt do the greatest good unto thy fellow
beings, and wilt promote the glory of him who is your Lord.
D&C 81:5,4
Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many
things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness.

If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye alsoought to
wash one another's feet.
For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord;
neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
John 13:14-16
For the body is not one member, but many.
But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath
pleased him.
That there should be no scism in the body; but that the members should have
the same care one for another.
Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
1 Corinthians 12:14, 18, 25, 27
The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the
gray head.
Proverbs 20:29

Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the
wife unto the husband.
1 Corinthians 7:3
Husbands, love your wives, even asChrist also loved the church, and gave
himself for it;
Ephesians 5:25
Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as
himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
Ephesians 5:33
Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house,
even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of
learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God.
That your incomings may be in the name of the Lord; that your outgoings may
be in the name of the Lord; that all your salutations may be in the name of
the Lord, with uplifted hands unto the Most High.
D&C 88:119-120
In the celestial glory there are three heavens or degrees;
And in order to obtain the highest, a man must enter into this order of the
priesthood [meaning the new and everlasting covenant of marriage];
And if he does not, he cannot obtain it.
D&C 131:1-3
And if ye seek the riches which it is the will of the Father to give unto
you, ye shall be the richest of all people, for ye shall have the riches of
eternity; and it must needs be that the riches of the earth are mine to
give; but beware of pride, lest ye become as the Nephites of old.
And again, I say unto you, I give unto you a commandment, that every man,
both elder, priest, teacher, and also member, go to with his might, with
the labor of his hands, to prepare and accomplish the things which I have
commanded
D&C 38:39-40
Sorry this is late. Our ISP was down yesterday.
And again, verily I say unto you, that every man is obliged to provide for
his own family, let him provide, and he shall in nowise lose his crown; and
let him labor in the church.
Let every man be diligent in all things. And the idler shall not have place
in the church, except he repent and mend his ways.
D&C 75:28-29
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no
work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
Ecclesiastes 9:10
Whatsoever principle of intelligence we attain unto in this life, it will
rise with us in the resurrection.
And if a person gains more knowledge and intelligence in this life through
his diligence and obedience than another, he will have so much advantage in
the world to come.
D&C 130:18-19
And as all have not faith, seek ye diligently and teach one another words
of wisdom; yea, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom; seek
learning, even by study and also by faith.
D&C 88:118 (109:7)
These should then be attended to with great earnestness.

That they themselves may be prepared, and that my people may be taught more
perfectly, and have experience, and know more perfectly concerning their
duty, and the things which I require at their hands.

THIS MONTH'S THEME: "Life's Obligations," by President Gordon B. Hinckley
Wherefore, now let every man learn his duty, and to act in the office in
which he is appointed, in all diligence.
