Latter Day Saints (Mormons) are not immune to mental illness and many of us have husbands and wives who suffer with:
-- mood disorders such as bipolar disorder [manic-depression], major depression, etc.
-- thought disorders such as schizophrenia, etc.
-- anxiety disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder [ocd], general anxiety disorder [GAD], etc.
-- personality disorders such as borderline-personality disorder (bpd), etc.
This group is designed as a safe place for us to seek support in being married to individuals suffering from mental illnesses. Latter Day Saints considering marriage to individuals with mental illness are also welcome. This is not an appropriate group for individuals seeking support for their own mental illnesses.
All members are screened before joining and your posts are private, accessible only to current members. Please feel safe in posting your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. LDS Church standards apply to this group, but be aware that as many symptoms of mental illness are sexual in nature, there may be a need for a spouse to post a message with explicit content. Posts which attack individual group members or the church in general will be deleted and the offender asked to leave. Also, we need to be supportive of each group member's methods of treating the syptoms of mental illness. Posts that attack members' treatment choices will be deleted.
