Jim,
Everything in the interface is ground going. You provide a ground for the Tune
button. The tuner provides a ground for the LED.
We've thought about a remote box, but there are so many combinations of
installations, we just leave it to the user to put in what they need.

Question: Is there a cable that interfaces the AT-1000Pro to the IC-756Pro3..
The reason I ask is it would be nice to use the tune button on the Pro3 to
autotune instead of having to put my rig into CW and hit my keyer to tune. does
it work like the IT-100 I have? I use that tuner for a 746pro and it works
great! just hit the tune button on the rig and done!

Hi,
New here. I was just about to order a Z-100 as I want to use it remote and then

Thanks!

How do I determine the Software/firmware version of my AT-100Pro tuner?

I used to have one. I'll start off by assuming that your on either 10W CW or
using some kind of tune function that Tx's 30W or less. Oddly enough your
description is also seen when Keyed on SSB and the microphone is picking up the
Relays in the tuner. Now the other possibility is that it needs repair or there
is a cable problem after the tuner. I guess it could also be caused by the
transmitter not like'n the poor match and is also varying the Tx'd power ( ill
assume not though).
Do the relays cycle on - wait about 1 sec - then off - wait about a sec - then
back on - cycled with the needles at the same time.?? - three times as i recall.
Mike
KC7NOA
I also had this issues with an Atlas 350XL .... it was caused by a harmonic
carrier Tx'd all the time on SSB when Keyed. Kinda like a carrier balance off
set but on the wrong frequency and the tuner would always tune because of it
being a different FREQ !!!! I had always ignored it because it was just slightly
under 1W but the tuner wanted to match it and one day i finally got tired of it
and tracked down the fault.
Just a side note ... sorry.

Hello everyone.
I have just been given an LDG AT-11MP Autotuner.
On checking it out there seems to be a fault.
When keying the radio's mike the tuner will try to tune.
The twin needle will go up and down but the tuner will not tune.
I have tried moving the various switches to try to get it to tune.
Has anyone else had this problem and how was it fixed please.
Thanks Andy G6OHM

The AT-11MP is an autotuner, but I do not believe it is an "automatic" tuner.
You have to supply RF power (>5W) while pressing the Tune button.

Hello Andy,
To make it tune, transmit 5 or 10w of RF and press the TUNE switch, it
will make a racket as the relays switch and probably be done in 2 or 3
seconds. If in the AUTO mode it will retune if the SWR exceeds a certain
value, check the manual for the limit. If in semiauto mode it only retunes
when TUNE is pressed AND RF is applied.

Hi Rick,
We've never heard of a behavior like that. The FT-897D that we have here does
not behave like that.
Could be some sort of strange ground loop.

Luis,
Currently I use a 1:1 balun to feed my dipole. In my situation, the Z11-Pro does
not tune on 160 meters.I also own a 1:4 balun and possibly the z11pro will tune
on 160 meters when using the 1:4 balun,. However the efficiency will be very low
due to my much too short dipole. I have no intention to work on 160 meters
anyway.
Besides a TS440S I also own an ICOM IC7000. This set has 6 meters available and
the Z11-Pro tunes fine. I read that you are very happy with your Z11-Pro. Myself
I am very pleased with my Z11-Pro as well.

Dwayne,
The only complaint that I've ever had with my AT-897 is not knowing for sure if
it was in bypass.
Having an LED confirmation of being in bypass would be highly desirable. It
would beat what I do now which is pressing the tune button to tune it and then
pressing the button again to be sure it's in bypass.
I hope that you find some good reasons to update the firmware!

Installation is an FT-897D and a Z-100Pro.
When the radio to tuner cable is hooked up and the tuner is operating correctly,
in CW operation the first part of the character sent is clipped i.e. send .-
the . is clipped and distorted.
I installed 2 ferrite chokes on the cable and it didn't help. Tried it at
minimum power and there was no difference.
Yes, red to radio, black to tuner.
When the cable is detached there is no problem.
Any suggestions?
Rick W3BI
Hello,
What balun did you requested to feed the dipole?
If you made it longer, do you think you could operate the 160 meters? :)
Oh one other question, did you tried the 50MHz? I know that Kenwood TS440S
does not have the 6 meter band, but nevertheless its a very good setup that
you have.
I also own the Z-11 Pro, its the best choice, specially because it does not
need energy if already tuned, and the possibility to add the battery support
_on the inside_ makes it the best tuner ever, for home or field day use...
You just can't find anything to beat the Z-11 Pro...
I also should mention that I called LDG with some doubts and the way that my
call was received was more than perfect. Humours and very competent people
work there, and they WILL DO anything to help their customers.

Received my free rebate balun during last weekend already. I have sent the
rebate form only 2 weeks earlier from The Netherlands!
Thanks LDG for the fast response. The Z11-Pro tuner works like a charm together
with my Kenwood TS440S. The antenna is center fed dipole ,30 meters long in
total. It tunes on all bands, except 160 meters.
PA0HVH
Why is it that when my Z100 blinks once it is in line as the manual
states on most bands, but on 6m & 17m when it blinks once it is out of
line. I need to push the button and get three blinks (manual says that
places the tuner off line) to engage the tuner in line. Makes no sense
to me...
Ideas? Comments?
I would think if I am on 80m and the tuner is in line (one blink),
that if I went to 17m the tuner would still be "in line" and I woulld
not need todo anything.....
David,
Thanks for the great question. At this time, we do not have any plans for a
firmware update for the AT-897.
The elimination of the Y-ACC cable is a hardware change and cannot be updated
with firmware. All commands from the radio to the AT-897Plus are now on the CAT
cable, so the Y-ACC is no longer needed to control the radio keying.
If we find enough upgrades to make a firmware update desirable, the we would
certainly add the double flash for indication of bypass mode.
The bulk of the AT-987Plus changes were moving the commands to the CAT port.
Nearly all of the functions from the users standpoint are identical to the
AT-897.

Will there be a firmware upgrade available to provide the features of the 897
Plus tuner?
The differences I saw was the elimination of the tune cable and a double flash
of the LED to confirm bypass mode.
Are there any other improvements not noted?
I have to apologize, stupid me, I didn't realize that it takes several seconds
for the first tune, I simply pressed the PTT not long enough.
Now it works like a charm.
I'm a really happy owner of the z11-pro now.
together with the balun rebate, this is a real bargain.
