Thanks for the information. Too bad the Expo event, sponsored by the San Fernando Valley NFB chapter, isn't actually held in the SFV! I'm going to try to get to this event, since I'm looking for a device that's somewhere between my reading glasses and desktop CCTV. May also go to the Vision Walk as well, but might just save my energy for the Walk4Hearing in Long Beach on November 8.
I've had a weird year. I'm now living in Tarzana - right around the corner from the Center for the Partially Sighted satellite office. Mom & I lost our Sylmar home in the fire last November and have moved twice since then. We spent 10 days at my sister's in Sherman Oaks, six months in a small apartment in Sherman Oaks, and now here. I hope this will be home for
a while.
This is Bill Takeshita and I want to invite you to take part in the 2009 Vision Walk which will be held on Sunday, October 25 at Will Rogers Beach in Santa Monica. As a person who has lost his sight due to a retinal degenerative disease, I am hopeful that a cure is near. I have been following the research closely and am most pleased with the recent progress made by researchers funded by the FFB.
I realize that the economy is difficult at this time but if you want to join our team and walk, or if you know a person who wants to walk or donate, please tell them about the event.
My team name is : Dr. Bill Foundation If you know of someone who wants to donate, I would appreciate their support by typing Bill Takeshita
Here is how to do it: 1. Go to www.Visionwalk.org 2. Click Donate or Join a Team. 3. You can type the name of our team or my name. 4. If it asks which location, it is the Los Angeles Vision Walk.
Thanks for all of your help and support.
With appreciation, Bill Bill Takeshita, O.D., F.A.A.O., F.C.O.V.D. 310.458.3501 818.705.5954
Please save the date and send this to all of
your friends who might attend. Thanks for your support!

I am sure Rachel will make the most radiant bride ever. And Sheri a tearful yet georgeous mother of the bride, not to mention that handsome dude guiding Rachel down the aisle, Marc himself. Happiness is a well deserved emotion for your home!
Congratulation and happy to hear that your daughter is engaged to be marry to a young man from Richmond, WA. Sound like that he work for the Microsoft up there. Keep us post on future wedding date. All my four children are married now. You and your wife Shelley are now a proud parent of the baby daughter. Grandpa Ray.
Hello everyone
Marc G. here
I have some very happy news. Many of you met my daughter at the St.
Luis Social a few years back, well she is turning 25 this year and
Last week Her boyfriend proposed to her. So it is official My baby
girl is now engaged. Now most of you know that we live in Los
Angeles, CA. What you don't know is that he lives in Redmond WA.
Skype has kept love alive for over 3 years. Along with two visits a
year :). No date has been set. Yes he has my approval He is a great
guy.
For me, it was no fun at all. I did not ever get to polish my
shotgun, :( lol
Just had to let everyone know.
Proud Dad

I kinda agree with Diane and Pam that we have lunch someday in Sherman Oaks area. It will be easy for me to take a bus there from Universal City Station of Red Line. Grandpa Ray.
I'm catching up on 400+ emails, so I'm behind here.
Marc, I'll challenge you on who's had the longest three months. Well, for me it hasn't quite been two months, but it's been l-o-n-g.
On November 15, my home was one of 485 that burned to the ground at the Oakridge Mobile Home Park in Sylmar. Mom and I had about two hours to pack the car, so we did escape with some belongings, like this laptop and all my reading glasses. But it's been devastating to deal with. We spent ten days at my sister's house in Sherman Oaks, before moving into a great apartment a few miles away. We're near Ventura and Sepulveda Blvds, so I can walk almost anywhere. We'll be here for at least six months and are exploring options for the future.
Right after the fire I contacted the Center for the Partially Sighted and
was fortunate that they'd just gotten a donated CCTV that they gave me to replace mine. That's been so helpful to have.
As Pam will tell you, there's a delicious sandwich shop & bakery just down the street from me. It would be a nice place for the LARP group to get together.

I always say that it is not how well off you are that make you who you are, but rather how you deal with what you are given. So i have a new motto "it is what it is" so make the best of it. The funny part that i did not mention, was that in the middle of moving out, we got a call informing us that we had to book a cruise we were planning to go on. so there we were, homeless and still booking a cruise.
As for new adventures I do have several thing coming up in the new year.
as a great blue collar comic once said, "if life gives you lemons, make lemon-aid. Then find someone who's life gave them Vodka and have a party"
Happy Holidaya

was dianosed in 2002. I sort of appear and disappear, but am always
generally around. I work for a humanitarian organization as part of
the HR dept and I try to get as much writing done in my off time as I
can.
Happy Holidays and hope to hear from you.

Let me tell you what has happened with Sheri and I. Well in June, I was called in for my semi-annual evaluation. That ended in the agreement that my vision was at a point that i could not do my job even with assistive devices So we took the next three months getting things ready for who ever would take over, Let me tell you, that was what i thought was the longest three months of my life. Well my last day of work was on Sept 12 2008 that is when the work really started. applying for the LTD insurance, SDI and SSDI then there is the COBRA for health insurance. I had no idea how much work retirement was!!!!
One week into retirement, we are informed that we had to move we will leave that story for another day. Long story short, Me and my family have been homeless (living on mom-in-laws front room floor). for the past three months. So that has now taken over as the longest three months of my life LOL.

So it looks like we will be starting this new phase of my life with all new in the new year. It has been hell, but it looks sunny in the long run.

Hello Everyone,
I just find out this morning that I become a grandfather for the ninth time over the weekend. It is my third granddaughter name Chloe. She belong to my baby daughter Rosa Linda Carmelo and her husband Steven. This daughter is their fourth child. They have two sons name Cody and Caden and a daughter name Cassidie. All their children name start with C. I may become a great grandfather within two or three years as my oldest grandson already married for three years and is 27 years old now. The Carmelo's family live in San Juan Capistrano in California. Grandpa Ray.

Oop, your right, and I am nut not you. I just overlooked in the wrong way. Forgive me. Yes, August 2 is Saturday and got mix up with having July 31 of the wrong year. I guess, my mind go crazy as my hearing aid die on me last Tuesday and was angry about it. I guess my mind went around and around and around and did stop until a minutes ago. So I apologize for mix up. Grandpa Ray.
