The LARHE list is an email support group for homeschoolers in the Longview area. We are a diverse group welcoming all homeschoolers regardless of their race, religion, political views, or homeschooling methods. This doesn't mean we are a secular group at all. We understand that not everyone shares the same beliefs, religious or otherwise, and respect each person's decisions regarding their own paths. Being mean will not be tolerated.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND forwarded messages of a religious, political or controversial nature(jokes, poems, and pictures included). Sending articles of interest to the general homeschooling population is ok. Debates are NOT ALLOWED! Discussions about things religious or political in nature and questions asked in genuine interest regarding someone's choices, are welcomed as long as the conversation can stay polite(but if someone is asked about their faith/voting/tree hugging/meat-eating practices or whatever, it is fine for them to state they are uncomfortable sharing-at any time during the conversation). LARHE members treat each other with respect and gentleness.

We have a weekly Park Day(usually Thursdays), occasional Mom's Nights Out, field trips, information about local events, sharing of ideas and support for new and seasoned homeschoolers alike. Most importantly, LARHE offers the opportunity for friendship for homeschooling families. If you would like to offer a "class" or formal group for something(such as chess or journalism, etc.), please feel free to ask on the list. I can't guarantee interest but you never know, maybe you'll end up making a new friend with a similar interest.

Please try to participate! The group is YOU!!! And remember, there are no stupid questions except the ones you don't ask. One more thing, remember that the delete key is your friend. If there is a religious, political or moral discussion going on that you disagree with or makes you uncomfortable, use common sense and ignore it.
