Dear group!

Spread memories of Waclaw Matusiewicz about his family deportation to Tayshetlag (1940-46). Interesting for his drawings.
In 5 camps were seated more than 10,000 Poles, maybe someone interested.

Matusiewicz refers to his article published on the magazine Siberians 43, 44, 46 (1992). I really need it, can anyone get it and scan?

Waclaw lives in Debno (Poland), he was 82 years old.
May God give him health.

Since the article was scanned and processed Fine reader, errors occur. If someone takes trouble to correct and translate from Polish into English (even better - in Russian), and place new file in group, I will be obliged.

Stanislaw from M.

Memos suggest US hid evidence of Soviet massacre during WWII

Published September 10, 2012
Associated Press

The evidence is among about 1,000 pages of newly declassified documents that the United States National Archives is releasing Monday and putting online. Historians who saw the material days before the official release describe it as important and shared some highlights with the AP. The most dramatic revelation so far is the evidence of the secret codes sent by the two American POWs — something historians were unaware of and which adds to evidence that the Roosevelt administration knew of the Soviet atrocity relatively early on.

In the early years after the war, outrage by some American officials over the concealment inspired the creation of a special U.S. Congressional committee to investigate Katyn.
In a final report released in 1952, the committee declared there was no doubt of Soviet guilt, and called the massacre "one of the most barbarous international crimes in world history." It found that Roosevelt's administration suppressed public knowledge of the crime, but said it was out of military necessity. It also recommended the government bring charges against the Soviets at an international tribunal — something never acted upon.
Despite the committee's strong conclusions, the White House maintained its silence on Katyn for decades, showing an unwillingness to focus on an issue that would have added to political tensions with the Soviets during the Cold War.

Stanislaw,

Very interesting mail and I know for a fact that we have several KS members
who's families were in Tayshet-Bratsk region; your sketches show locations of
various sites where posiolki were placed; what is amazing is the number of them
for for Poles as well as Japanese and other nationalities. Some just female only
lagiers; what was the industry there?

It might be by coincidence that in WSPOMNIENIA by Waclaw Matusiewicz there is a
mention of these posioleks for 12,000persons.

I have tried to translate Waclaw's document electronically, but so far failed.
What is it you would like to know? is it to do with your family/relatives?
As you know there are 15 pages of that document, plus some scetches. So it would
be a great task translating it all manuslly, so to speak.

Greetings,

And Happy 2013.

I am doing research for a memoir I am finishing about my Polish family. I am
hoping to discover the location, or close proximity thereof, of the camp they
were taken to in Novosibirsk in 1940. I wanted to know how close to the main
city/town it was or any other information.

Thank you for any information and/or redirecting me.

All best,

Lucyna, these are great photos, I found this site before I found KS, with this particular site originally intended to comprise of pre war and post war, but stopped in, Ostatnia aktualizacja: 20.12.09, (I tried to contribute more photos but site closed) as the organizer of these photos 'Leszek Rzesniowiecki' has concentrated his efforts into being a tourist guide and runs many trips per year for old residents of Wolyn/Kresy and their children to come back for a look.

Mark T.,

I do not have enough knowledge to ask for anything specific, but please dribble them, using your judgement,  to group who will find them most valuable as shared research.

This is the purpose of the exercise to provide research material to group.

Thank you so much, for finding these, I knew someone in group with more computer and research knowledge than me would find them, so grateful for this .

when you share with group, give specific name to doc. Or information and delete any excess previous group material, so not to clog up or overload, our own limited computer space on KS.

Good stuff, thank you so much.

I just had one bounce back 'undeliverable'.
I will try another now, that one may have been too large.
In this document, I hope someone will comment on the Potsdam Agreement.
Also, I have seen articls suggesting that some Nazis were found guilty in Nuremburg for Katyn. This suggests that is not true.

The most dramatic revelation so far is the evidence of the secret codes sent by the two American POWs something historians were unaware of and which adds to evidence that the Roosevelt administration knew of the Soviet atrocity relatively early on.
It also recommended the government bring charges against the Soviets at an international tribunal something never acted upon.
Despite the committee's strong conclusions, the White House maintained its silence on Katyn for decades, showing an unwillingness to focus on an issue that would have added to political tensions with the Soviets during the Cold War.

Mark, I have resent your previous attachment, changing the format and wording a little, so to unclutter information, making it easier to send and read.

Try something similar to delete all unnecessary previous attachments and the large ones should go through. Also change the subject heading to perhaps (classified information USA re Katyn,  released 2012)

Mark, this is brilliant, these are our people, may they rest in peace. Very emotional to have these original photos.

Krystyna or Elzunia, question, is there any way we can save and keep these photos on KS MUSEUM, before the link expires on 6th February, 2013?  As they are too precious to lose.

Mark T.,
I do not have enough knowledge to ask for anything specific, but please dribble them, using your judgement,  to group who will find them most valuable as shared research.

Yes, several.
Big files to attach I think?
Do you have a doc in mind or should I just dribble them through here?
I will try to attach another here about evidence from Albert Pfeiffer.

Mark, the attachment comes through very clear, in fact so clear, knowing it is original document dated 1948, confirming Katyn information, gives me the shudders.  Did you find anymore?

Has anyone in group followed this up, from my understanding these documents were released last year 2012. See some quotes below –

The most dramatic revelation so far is the evidence of the secret codes sent by the two American POWs something historians were unaware of and which adds to evidence that the Roosevelt administration knew of the Soviet atrocity relatively early on.
