Sorry, I won't be able to help you very much, as I was born and bred in New
Zealand. My family hails from the Lwow region, currently in Ukraine, which is
quite far from the Wilno district, where your Michal was from. (Even if you
hadn't mentioned he was a native of Wilenszczyzna [the Wilno area], I'd have
guessed it going by his name - typical of that part of the world.) There is a
town on the outskirts of Wilno city called Nowa Wilejka, but another one called
Wilejka much further to the east. Oszmiana is, roughly, between Wilno and
Wilejka. All these places were located in the pre-war Wilno Province.
Nowadays, Wilejka and Oszmiana are in White Ruthenia (Belarus), whereas Nowa
Wilejka, like Wilno itself, is occupied by Lithuania.

from Hoover Institute USA his address is Oszmania, which has
troubled me a little.
I have had a lot of help from the group moderators & I am waiting
for replies from different sources but just will try anything to
find what actually happened to Michael before he joined Anders Army
in USSR as he never did tell me.
