Kol Nidre / Erev Yom Kippur Fri 9/21 with Kolaynu

Hello Friends of Kolaynu,

*** Please invite your friends, family, and pass this
info on *****

Just a reminder about this Friday's Kol Nidre
service... please arrive a little early so we can
start on time.... if possible, bring mementos or
flowers or other objects for the mishkan... we have
on-site childcare... many blessings to you all.....

Kolaynu: The Progressive Jewish Voice of Santa Cruz,
invites community, friends, and loved ones to join us
in observing the High Holidays “Santa-Cruz-Style”.

Kol Nidre / Erev Yom Kippur Services will be on
Friday, September 21, at the Pacific Cultural Center,
1307 Seabright Avenue at Broadway in Santa Cruz, at 7
PM (please arrive by 6:45 PM).

We welcome individuals and families of every
configuration and orientation, interfaith,
questioning, and friends of Jews. Children are welcome
and on-site childcare is available.

Kolaynu is thrilled to announce our cantorial soloists
for Kol Nidre: Rose Elgart-Fail, Sephy Elizai, and
Lori Rivera.

For many years, Kolaynu High Holiday observances have
been a Creative community option in Santa Cruz.

Kolaynu services are --

Progressive: recreating traditional Jewish ritual so
as to more accurately reflect contemporary Jewish
values;

Egalitarian: blending new liturgy and feminine voices
with traditional prayers and blessings;

Participatory: offering opportunities for all who
attend to share in reading aloud and facilitating the
service.

Both women and men facilitate the holiday celebration.
Our co-facilitators are volunteers. All who attend are
invited to participate and bring personal prayers and
readings.

Our service is also Peace-Oriented. Kolaynu has its
roots firmly planted in beliefs of working towards
social justice, human rights, and peaceful
coexistence... in the Middle East and around the
world. Please join us on these Holy Days and share
your thoughts, your spirit, and your energy, as we all
face the challenges of making peace together.

No tickets necessary. Contributions of any amount are
gratefully accepted and deeply appreciated to cover
the cost of the facility and printed materials
(suggested donations in units of “chai” (18), for
“life”, are in keeping with the spirit of the season).
No one is turned away for lack of funds.

Come as you are; no need to dress-up (please refrain
from wearing fragrances for the comfort of those who
may be sensitive). Please feel free to bring flowers,
photos and mementos to adorn the mishkan (altar),
tambourines, hand drums, and meditations.

Call (831) 477-1624 or (firefoxsf@ pacbell.net) for
more info and to reserve childcare.
