A thought just occurred to me--this year, Tucson Meet Yourself coincided with the Kingdom A&S.  Before planning anything, I think we need to verify the dates for both events to see if there's a conflict for 2013.  From what I could find, the Tucson Meet Yourself dates will be Oct. 11-13, 2013.  I could find no posting for the A&S event on the Kingdom calendar for 2013.

I inquired with the people whom host this event. I told them about the SCA and what we would be interested in wanting to do, she referred me to the website for pricing and such, but said this event was more of a cultural event and she was not sure we really met the theme. Well my idea is this, perhaps we could go at it from a stand point of focusing on say a specific culture, like middle eastern, German, Mongolian, something like that where we are displaying arts and such and focus on the culture they are coming from like a table dedicated to german arts, armor clothes etc, other tables or set ups where we group certain cultures as a theme. We could have fighter in specific kits that are period and culture accurate, maybe have persian style dancers. This would make us fit in more with their event theme, while still attracting attention to our organization. To do this demo, I would need a team of people in charge of certain aspects of the demo, I am willing to get it off the ground if I have good support from a team of workers.

So…. Who shall it be? Atenveldt against Granite Mountain. Or will we other challengers? Baron Brian the Pious feels that his populace will come out on top, but the gracious Baroness Fiordalisa Elena di Tomasso argues that the Ate Ten Toads are the best cooks in all the Kingdom.  Nay, she says, in all the Known World.  My money would be on the cooks of Mons Tonitrus, but we are busy arranging the challenge.  Now my hearing may be a little off, but I could swear they both thought there were no other challengers out of fear.  That cannot be so, as there are many wonderful cooks within the borders of Atenveldt that could rise to the challenge.  And there is rumor that our cousins from Caid may come to lay waist to the judges. What say you, Baron Zhigmun' and Baroness Aleyd?  Baron Wilhelus and Baroness Viola? Certainly Baron Bran and Baroness Deletha have no wish to ignore this challenge.  What of the mountainous wonders of Ered Sul? Certainly Baron Henry and Baroness Eirny will fight to protect their honor. And then there are the amazing Shires, Marches, and Colleges that would certainly enjoy stealing Baron Brian's thunder. The time to declare is drawing nigh, as there is an enormous amount of work that needs to be done before Southern Crusades. Please let me know what your desires are!!

Sorry for the bandwidth. Although it won't be official until tomorrow, it is
now definite that my position in my department will be eliminated as of the end
of the year due to restructuring in my company. If anyone knows of anyone
hiring mid to upper-level admins or office managers, I have 12 years experience
in the field and excellent references and would be *extremely* grateful for any
leads that are thrown my way. While I expected this to happen, it happend much
sooner than I thought I would so I have less time than I hoped to find something
new.

Thank you in advance,

I would like to remind everyone to bring their banners along with poles and
portable holes. Also, please bring seating as close to period style as possible
and if they are folding chairs, please bring chair covers if you have them.

Parking will be a challenge, so please come as early as possible and do not park

they are having an event that day as well and their security will be patrolling
the lots. Carpooling is a great idea.

Greetings, good gentles all.

It is with great sorrow that we observe the end of the glorious reign of TRM Thomas and Ilora, and with great joy that we welcome the upcoming reign of TRH Tristan and Damiana.

Throughout the day, entertainment would be welcome.  Here's my tentative plan, subject of course to royal pleasure and unexpected circumstances:

Before opening court:  instrumental music (bring Musicke from Olde England and the set list from Chocolate Revel).  Wind players, guitarists, mandolin players, violinists, percussionists - we love you all!

After lunch: a recess as people finish lunch and return to their seats.  HRH Damiana has requested music and entertainment then.  Bards, please bring your favorite piece(s), coronoation-themed if possible, and of course family-friendly.

Also, music and entertainment as needed throughout the day.

I will try to have a shade pavillion for musicians near "Big Blue" so that we have a place to put chairs, music stands, etc. in the shade.  If you do not have a period chair, remember your chair cover.  If you bring a cooler or other items, covers will be needed for those as well.

One last thing:  if you will be playing or performing at Coronation, please email me at the address below.  Thank you!

Thank you, everyone who has supported me throughout this reign as we have joined together to provide the people of Atenveldt with live music and bardic presentations.  You are talented, awesome, and appreciated!

If you have someone you want to bring out to introduce them to the SCA this
event is ideal for that.

For those who may not have heard of Rett Syndrome here is a brief description of
this syndrome and how it affects these Angels.

Rett Syndrome is a severe neurological disorder the primarily affects girls.
Rett Syndrome is the most physically disabling of the autism spectrum disorders.
Rett Syndrome is caused by a mutation in the gene MECP2 –a protein that
regulates the expression of other genes by turning them off at the appropriate
time. The mutation is spontaneous and the effects are seen in early childhood
between 6 to 18 months of age. The disorder destroys speech, movement, and
functional hand use. Many children lose the ability to walk, they struggle
daily with severe seizures, scoliosis, breathing abnormalities, and often the
child becomes dependent on others for a lifetime of care. These children's
normal life expectancy is to the age of 14 to 17.

all adjustments to your individual planning calendars. If you know of a site
that can accommodate this event, for one, or a two day event, please send let me
know.

help choose Estrella War A&S Competition Categories for 2014. Please go to the
following link and let us know what you would like to see.

3. I have added all of the information needed for Estrella War A&S Competition

them to do so.

                 http://arts.atenveldt.org/Estrella

4. NEW this year added to Estrella War A&S Competition will be a Estrella War
Youth A&S Competition, similar to this Year's Youth Kingdom A&S Competition we
just had. The only major differences is that we will be only one Category:"
Artifacts", and that the age range will be from 11 to 17 years of age. Please
let all youth know and encourage them. Rules will be added to the Kingdom A&S
Website, under Estrella, Soon.

5. From now till next Kingdom A&S Competition I, and all the MoAS of our
Kingdom, will be focusing additionally on all of those in our Kingdom that have
entered and those that have thought about entering A&S Competitions. There are
plans for classes all over the Kingdom, and consultation tables to be set up
where ever possible, to lend assistance in anyway of the process of A&S
Competition from start to finish. Majority of these classes will be on the
education of how A&S Competitions work, and to have the effect of reducing the
tentativeness of competing. If you would like to see some of these things near
you please let me know.

Always In Service,
Master Raven Mayne, OL
Kingdom Minister of Arts and Sciences

Greetings all.  If you intend to camp with the Barony of SunDragon at this coming Estrella War then we need you to contact us OFFLINE as soon as possible at:

All we need at this point is a list of names for your family or your group that will be camping with you.  We do not need numbers of tents or sizes or kitchen/common areas or anything else at this point...just names.

This head count will be used to help determine how much square footage we will have for the war.  So please be quick and please count only people that are fairly certain that they will be there.  If you host others from outside of SunDragon, please be sure and include them in as well.  Thank you and looking forward to a glorious war.

Please forward this on to any others you feel may need to know this information.

Here are the details for the Bardic Quest on Saturday at Southern Crusades:
Look ye thy gentle bards, if thou art ready to quest, as thou hast intended,
submit ye to three challenges. I charge thee, to find each challenge and  in
finding the first thou shall not fail to find the next. Take heed, pilgrim, to
find thyself victorious whilst on this journey you will have need to bring
fourth laughter, elicit love, and inspire.

Seek me thy self, at the time and place the marshal would inspect the fighters
of our kingdom, and as your eyes drink in the preparations for war, your ears
will find the one who holds the beginning to your quest.

Greetings,

Rogue Haven is looking for several strong willing hands for Estrella. We will
pay your entrance fee, and provide vittles. We will be camping in the Medieval
Village this year and need hands to assist with set up, water hauling, a few
small chores during the war, and break down. I promise you will have plenty of
time to enjoy the war as set up and break down are the busy days the rest is
minimal. I also promise you will be well fed, you can ask around what feast
night is like at Rogue Haven.

Please sent me your interest to carol_nightshade @ hotmail.com.

I wanted to make sure I make time to say thank you to everyone who made
Coronation so amazing and wonderful for me. It has been an honor beyond words
to have been Queen of these glorious lands. I have met so many good people and
had many of those turn into good friends. I have been overwhelmed by the
generosity of Atenveldt. From the clothing that was created for HE Count Sir
Thomas and myself and our spouses, to the delicious feasts and libations that
were created for us to enjoy, to the time and efforts of every person who set up
tents and took them down only to set them up again. The gifts we received were
beyond wonderful and the largesse we were able to gift to other Kingdoms truly
made us proud and made Atenveldt shine with the brightness of the sun (as she
always does in my heart).
Our warriors fought bravely and with determination on every field, our artisans
created such works of beauty and quality as to rival all others we had the
fortune to witness, and without our volunteers this reign could not have
happened as easily or as well as it did (if at all). I had fun spending time
with all my Ladies in Waiting and was more at peace knowing my Guardsmen and
Guards-women were always there for me. I feel like I will never be able to
repay all the kindnesses I received over the last 6-9 months, but that will not
stop me continuing to try to say thank you now as Countess of this beautiful
realm.
Atenveldt, I remain Yours in heart and service,
Countess Ilora von Neunhoff
Long Live The King! Long Live The Queen! Long Live These Glorious Lands of
Atenveldt!
PS: Any Ladies in Waiting and/or Guards that were not able to be at Coronation,
please contact me directly to receive your gift. Those who received Sigils
and/or Cyphers who did not get their t-shirt yet, also please contact me. Thank
you.

Your Excellency:

May I say, that as generous and amazing as our Kingdom is, I believe that it was you and His Excellency Thomas that made it a joy to serve.  As I have been in the society for nigh on 15 years, your reign was exceptionally enjoyable for me.  Many a time, as I sat in the chair next to your throne, was I impressed by your Grace.  You are truly inspiring.

Thank you, and His Excellency for all of the laughter and even for the tears these past months.

In Service,

Baroness Elena
The Barony of Atenveldt.

Greetings All!

On Friday Morning from 9 to 11 am Baron Simon and Baroness Magdalen will teach a court heralding class entitled HOW TO HERALD COURT WITHOUT LOSING YOUR HEAD.  (See your Gatebook for location)

This is an intermediate class focused at heralds who have served as court herald at least once before for either a Landed Baron and Baroness or for the Crown.  Total newcomers are welcome, but may be lost at some of the concepts discussed as a certain familiarity with heraldic terminology is assumed.  Simon will address primarily the art and finesse of vocal presentation as a herald and Magdalen will primarily address the organization and pacing of court from procession through to the court report.  As art and organization overlap in many areas, you will get helpful hints to get you through any court situation that may come your way.

There will be handouts provided for the first dozen students present in class and we will provide additional handouts to any who ask after Southern has concluded.  There will be extra information provided to Tir Ysgithr Heralds regarding ceremony and tradition in the Gem of Atenveldt.

Between us, we have served as court herald for over 9 Royal Reigns in the Kingdom of Atenveldt and have heralded at one time or another for at least 7 Baronial Reigns in the Barony of Tir Ysgithr.   Magdalen has served at Aten Principal Herald and Black Boar Herald and Simon has been called upon to herald for Foreign Kings and Princes from Pennsic War to our Grand and Glorious Estrella War.

Heraldry is one of our great passions, we hope to share that enthusiasm with you and to teach all who will listen to learn better techniques to help them in their own journey as Court Heralds.

See You there!

During Coronation this past weekend His Royal Majesty Tristan reiterated his wish that Atenveldt field an army of blue and gold for this upcoming Estrella.  On Sunday, November 18, the Barony of SunDragon will be holding their monthly court and tourney event beginning at 2 PM.  We are asking for all those interested in how the SunDragon forces will accomplish this to please attend this meeting.  We will be discussing several options and need the input from as many as possible.

Hoping to see lots and lots of you there.
