Kevins Driftboat is a tribute to my good honest friend, Oregon National Guard Staff Sgt Kevin Davis. My fishing buddy lost his wonderful life to a roadside bomb, while on patrol near Hawijah, IRAQ April 8th 2005
Kevin was excited to get home soon, and fish in his first driftboat. His wife had just purchased it for him, and he had only seen some pictures. His Mom described it as something he wanted his whole life, but could never afford, until it was too late.
Kevin left me a touching voicemail just days before passing. He had just received my Steelhead pictures and commented "Nice Fish, Real nice fish" I thought he would be back soon, in the peak of Spring Salmon and Summer Steelhead fishing on the South Santiam River. And then his wife called...Did he tell you about the boat? "Keep him on the river while he is home. Thats what he needs"
We will all see and hear you at the river Kev, "Tight Lines" Fishin' Buddy.
Kevins driftboat is ready to fish for any of his Oregon National Guard buddies coming home soon. We are all thinking of you! UPDATE! EVERYONE IS BACK! TIME TO FISH!
We would like to help all Oregon National Guard veterans and other folks find fishing partners, and provide timely fishing tips to increase everyones fishing success.
Kevins driftboat can also take his kids, friends, neighbors, coworkers, schoolmates, combat vets, anyone Kevin would want in his boat. Out for a time of reflection. An appreciation for what Kevin stood for, while having fun, and hopefully catching a lot of really big fish.
I know Kevins driftboat will be lucky, but... I'll bet its the kids that get all the fish!
Thank You for your interest in Kevins Driftboat.
