OT: Still Looking for Matt...Casting for a Movie Role   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #791 of 856 |
Illumin8ed Productions is currently casting for a Christian feature film project which will be filmed at the end of the summer.  www.standstrongmovie.com  It is a full length movie that will have wide release, first in film festivals around the world, then in theaters and on DVD.

We had a great turnout for auditions and have nearly cast roles for all parts, with the exception of the male lead.  We have not yet found our lead character, Matt Webster.  For this purpose we are searching on a broad level to find the right man for the part.

Some specifics about the role:

Physicality's:
We are looking for a Caucasian man between the ages of 40-55, physically fit or athletic, minimum height of at least 5'8", dark or fair hair color acceptable

Experience:
Previous acting experience not necessary.  Will coach and train the "right" Matt.

Time Commitment:
Shooting for this film is taking place the last two weeks of August in the Salt Lake County area, on a Monday-Saturday consecutive schedule--12 days total.  For this reason a man with a flexible or entrepreneurial schedule, or who has vacation time would be best suited for the part.  Some training and rehearsals over the next month will also be required.

Testimony:
Actors on the project, professional and non, all share a common vision of consecrating their skills, talents, gifts and abilities to creating a work that testifies of Christ.  For this reason, a testimony and love of the Lord is essential.

Character Description:
Matt is a selfish, prideful, worldly “every man” in the first half of the movie who is obsessed with competition, looking good, and having "stuff." He is married to Tara and is the father of three children, two teens and a younger son. He believes in God and attends church sporadically, but sees religion as little more than something you do on Sunday, sometimes. He lives a duality in that he knows he lives in a financial house of cards and suffers the agony of indebtedness, but doesn't have the courage to face his situation or communicate with his wife about the problem. He has no vision for his life or his family. He has poor relationships with his wife and children as he has sacrificed all in pursuit of a great career, house, and toys. He has been a poor leader to his family and has largely created an environment of disconnection and isolation in his home. He is humbled through a series of financial failures and family crisis and seeks help from his younger brother, Josh. After coming to Christ, he repents and is humbled. He transforms into a loving husband, who unites his family, learns and applies principles of self-reliance, and becomes a courageous leader in his home and in the community.

About the Role:
Just like Flywheel, Facing the Giants, and Fireproof, Stand Strong completely honors the real life marriages of the actors.  An embrace, leaning in on a shoulder, sitting next to, touching a hand, etc. are the gestures that will be used to show physical love, though the movie is more about coming to Christ. The movie is not a romance, though healthy relationships are a part of the overall theme, physical contact is not the only way real life couples communicate love.  For the characters in the movie, it is more about kindness, and selflessness, an attitude of the heart.  Love is communicated in kind speech, thoughtful gestures, and touches of approval and warmth.  We will not be generating feelings of lust, or stumbling blocks in the real life relationships of the actors.  There are no kissing scenes.

If you or someone you know meet the criteria for the part of Matt and are interested in being considered for the part, please email a photo or headshot to illumin8ed1@... and include your name and contact information (phone and email). Once your information has been received, we will contact you to schedule a scene reading with the lead female character, Tara Webster.
