Please plan to attend the Quarterly Combined Key 3 meeting at Damien
High School on Septermber 6 at 6:00 PM.  Pupus and juice provided,
plus a chance to visit with others around the council, followed by the
combined meeting and breakout sessions for each group.  The
Commissioner breakout session is a great time to share information and
compare notes on how we "do" Commissioner Service.

Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend, as I am flying home from
the mainland the next day, following delivering my 2 daughters to
their respective colleges the previous 2 weekends.

7th.  I will have just returned from the mainland that day, but we
need to keep moving forward on Commissioner Service in our
district.  We have a number of units that are at risk right now, and
we need to strategize an action plan to help them.  At our last
District Committee meeting, we identified the units which were in
the most critical condition - Packs 144, 146, 157, 158, 170, 183,
and 564.

In almost all cases, the common problem is lack of leadership - too
many leaders are trying to do it solo, or too few parents are
willing to help with the units and the programs for the boys.

We will spend time at this meeting talking about a "Swat Team" to
help these units with assistance in recruiting boys AND parents,
providing training, and such.

Hope to see you there - FYI, I will be on Island thru 24 Aug, and
then on the mainland until the afternoon of 7 Sep.  If you need to

I'm on the mainland and just finished delivering my 2 daughters to
their respective colleges (Kari, a Junior at Withworth College in
Spokane WA, and Bethany, a Freshman at Concordia Univ in Portland
OR).  I fly home tomorrow, and hope to see you all at the
Commissioner's Meeting on wed at 7 PM.

Also, several reminders:

Roundtable is on Thursday - please attend if possilbe

Kaala District Camporee starts Fri afternoon.  We need a lot of
help, especially with Commissioners to assist with check-in and
check-out, plus assist with the various events.

Webelos visit to Camporee on Saturday afternoon.  Always need help
with this one - it is especially important, since the boys begin to
get exposure to the excitement of Boy Scouts

Commissioner's Conference on Sep 17 - I don't have details right
now, but I hope to have more information on Wed night.

Also, if you have not yet attended Wood Badge, there is still time
to sign up for the best and most fun training opportunity out
there.

Pete (and all for info),

Somewhat like College of Commissioner Science, but a different format.  It
will run parallel to the District Committee training, will include specific
classes for RT and UCs, etc., plus, usually also includes a large group
gathering of all commissioners.
