Bingo

Bingo will start at 20.45 every Friday and Sunday and on Saturday
30th. Don't forget the Lucky Number on the Saturday session. We are
now up to £280.

Motown Disco

One of the town's best Motown Discos will be with us on Saturday
16th September. Tony Gee will be plying his trade with his usual
style that has proven so popular for many years. Tickets are only
£4.00 and may be bought from the Entertainment Committee, behind the
bar or on the night at the door.

Is there an artist in the House?

At Kingsley we often have events that many people say they miss out
on because they say they have not been informed about them.

These events are invariably advertised in the newsletter and, more
often than not, by computer generated notices on the notice boards.

What we believe we need is an artist who can produce good eye-
catching A3 posters, just like we had in the old days!!!

If you like this kind of work, which will be paid for, please come
and see the Secretary.

Debit and Credit cards are Go!

We are pleased to announce that we can now accept Debit and Credit
cards as forms of payment. As long as you make a purchase including
a drink, either bottled or draught, you may also have cash back of
up to £50.00 on your debit cards. This service comes into its own if
you eat in the club, saving you the need to bring out too much cash.
There is no charge for the cash back service.

The telephone top-up service will be online shortly. Please remember
that the commission the Club receives for this helps pay the costs
the club has to pay for the Debit and Credit card service.

Eatery News

Not only do we now enjoy our Carvery as our regular Sunday meal, we
are now giving you a chance to have a free Carvery meal

All you have to do is come to the club on a Monday, Tuesday or
Wednesday evening in September and order a main course from the
menu. Every main course will earn you a voucher and six vouchers
will earn you a free carvery to be taken before the end of October.

Last month we introduced basket meals on Friday and Saturday nights.
We are pleased to announce that this gastronomic treat is to be
extended to all evening sessions from the beginning of September.

inviting them to collect their cards, some as many as four months
ago, yet a large number have still not come yet.

Staff News

Sarah Warren and Laura Wills who have both recently successfully
completed a course on First Aid at Work and become qualified First-
Aiders. They have both stressed that they will be quite happy not to
have to demonstrate their newfound skills in the Club.

Sarah has also been awarded GOAL Level 2 NVQ in Bar Service.

Steve Marson has successfully completed a foundation programme of
training and an assessment in Health & Safety in the Workplace and
Food Hygiene and has been awarded GOAL Level 2 NVQ in Bar Service.

Bar Tariff

Teething problems always happen when we try to simplify things. When
we rounded all pint prices down to the nearest 5 pence, we were left
with a problem with half pints. For example, Tetley's price remained
unchanged at £1.95, but if we were to reduce the price of halves to
the nearest 5 pence, everyone would be drinking two halves a time
rather than buying pints. So a half pint went up to £1.00. The good
news is that if Tetleys goes up by 5 pence in the next round of
increases, there will be no increase in the price of a half pint.

Product News

Over a year ago your management had a falling out with Coors Brewers
resulting in the removal of Worthington Creamflow from the bar. This
upset quite a few regular drinkers of this ale. We are pleased to
announce that bridges have been built and fences mended with Coors
and as a result Worthington is returning to our bar.

It is with regret that we are going to have to say goodbye to Sam
Smith, as its popularity seems to have been dwindling of late.

Your management is aware of the need to supply a quality ale at a
price suitable for those of our members who do not have much
disposable cash. We are therefore going to reduce the price of
Ansell's Bitter from £1.75 to £1.70 with effect from 1st September
06.

Have you noticed the new bottle with the blue label in the bottle
coolers? This is an excellent Italian lager called Poretti. At only
£1.80 a bottle, it is really worth a try!

Savings Club

It was hoped when the Savings Club was set up in 2004 that many
members would benefit from a convenient means of saving. Despite
regular publicity, it is very much regretted that not many people
availed themselves of this facility. It has proven not to be a
viable operation.

With effect from 1st September we will be accepting no further
deposits. Any monies on deposit may be withdrawn as and when
required.

It's that "C" word again!

It is the sincere belief of the Editor that the word Christmas
should be banned from the English language in any month of the year
except December.

However, to ensure we can offer the plethora of magnificent prizes
that we do offer, including £1000 first prize, we have to start
selling our Christmas Draw tickets in September.

Tickets will be available from the Welfare Table, from Door Staff
and from the Committee.

You have to be in it to win it, so start collecting your tickets for
only £1.00 a book of five as soon as you can. Good Luck!

Charitable Donations

In August we made a donation of £100 to the Headlands School to help
fund a party day and a trip to the theatre for the students.

We currently hold over £5000 in our Local Children in Need fund and
£1400 in our Local Charity Fund.

If any member has a charity or deserving cause they would like to
nominate for a donation, please put your recommendation together
with your reason in writing to the Committee for their
consideration. Please note that we prefer to donate to local people,
organisations or branches rather than national/ international
organisations except in extreme circumstances, such as the Tsunami
appeal last year.

Do you want to see Liverpool play Newcastle 20th September 06?

CARLSBERG has given us two tickets for this fixture. A voucher will
be given out for every pint of Carlsberg purchased from 1st
September until the lucky number is drawn just before the spirit
draw Sunday 17th September.

Do you want to own a signed Saints Shirt?

CARLSBERG has arranged for this "must have" for any Saints supporter
to be in our hands shortly. Look out for the posters. For every pint
of Tetleys purchased, a voucher will be given and a draw will be
made at a date to be advised in the very near future.

Do you want to see Liverpool play Chelsea on 20th January 07?

CARLSBERG has given us two tickets for this fixture. A voucher will
be given out for every pint of Carlsberg purchased from 1st January
2007 until the lucky number is drawn just before the spirit draw on
Sunday 14th January 2007.

OBITUARIES

We are sorry to announce the death of Ray Brown, a life member,
after a long illness. Ray was not a regular visitor to the club in
recent years and so is not known to many of our members.

Also we are sorry to announce the death of Martin Whitestone after a
short illness. Martin was a regular Sunday Lunchtime visitor to the
Club. He had many friends in the Club who will sorely miss the good
times had together.

Our deepest sympathy goes to the families of both of these highly
valued members of the Club.

And finally

As promised, quiz nights, otherwise known as masochist's jamborees,
will be returning in October. Details will be announced in your next
newsletter.
