The Kol Ami Book Club is reading The Long Walk by Slavomir Rawicz , subtitled "The True Story of a Trek to Freedom" . This book is a follow on to Michaelangelo in Ravensbruck. This book is also a rare choice for us as it doesn't touch on a Jewish theme. Rawicz was an officer in the Polish army imprisoned by the Russians in 1939. After months of planning, he and an intrepid band of fellow prisoners escape and begin their trek from the Siberian prison camp to freedom.
