Thankyou Carol for posting this poem, it really touches the heart, if
you have any others please feel free to post them, this goes for all
our members, maybe it will remind visitors of the suffering that
people are going through, and hopefully they will also wish to help

Sitting here, I get the feeling
Maybe there is no out side world
These four walls are closing in
And I can't take much more
For many years we've fought the battle
But will we ever win the war?

Grandfather's look upon me
I hear them chant 'forevermore'
And it gives me strength
Let freedom rain, let freedom rain, let it rain down on me

There's a place that I remember
Where prairie meets a clear blue sky
Our Mother's beauty-neverending
Where Ghost Dancer's sing a warrior's cry And you could ride into
forever
While atop you trusted steed
Where living in true freedom
Didn't mean you had to bleed
And it gives me strength
Let freedom rain, let freedom rain, let it rain down on me

My family's smiles are burned forever
In the sketching of my mind
Echoes of laughter from my children
And the Old Ones left behind
I know one day I'll taste that freedom
And I'll see them once again
Till then I'll fight the good fight
With the help of all my kin
And that gives me strength
Let freedom rain, let freedom rain, let it rain down on me

So on this day as I reflect
These many blessings in my heart
Every fiber of my being
Threatening to fall apart
And though white mans lies may keep me here
Behind these walls of gray

My Spirit soars above this place
And they can't take that away
This gives me strength.......

Hau Linda,
I have a few DR prisoners on my site if you want to add them to yours.
It will be easiest if you go to my website and click on DR pen pals and
cut and paste the names. I know they will be grateful.

Hau Jessie,
Thanks, and please thank Toja if that is who is putting the other names
on her list. All of the prisoners on my lists have asked for pen pals
and most of them are very lonely and anxious to have some one to write
to. Thundering Drums sent all of them Christmas card this year and all
of them answered us and were so happy to hear from some one during the
holidays.
Thanks Again,
Wowahwa,

Jessie,

Would you please send me the contact info for the United Friendship prison pen pal organization as I receive a number of requests from non Natives for NAPN.  I have some exception policies, but for those who don't fit in these, I try to find other places, that do not charge for their services since too many prisoners can't afford the charges, to refer these non Native prisoners to.

Thanks,
Kim

Hello everyone,

When it comes to finding a Native American pen pal in prison I can highly recommend both World Wide Friends from Toja, and Native American Prisoner Network from Kim!
Not only did I found myself great friends though their websites, I now also help spreading out the application forms for both sites to several prisoners, so others might be lucky to find a friend as well!

And......let's not forget Ironhouse! ~smile~
This is is going to be MY own site, I'm taking it over from Paul Bak, but I feel this website needs improvement, so I'm still working on it!!

Greetings, Jessie

NAPN - Native American Prisoner Network - is for Native American prisoners.
The site has multi function: to try to find pen pals and to display/promote
Native American artwork, crafts, and writings.

The site is at http://members.tripod.com/~foltz.k/napppn/napppnhome.html

Hello everyone, like to share this message from United Native America with you!!!
Jessie

Below is United Native America letter to the Oklahoma Governor and House speaker demanding for Rep. Kevin Cox to resign his office as a representative of Oklahoma citizens. This letter was hand delivered by Mike and Sharon Graham.

Today we were at the Oklahoma Capital, each representative UNA ask you to contact by email had a stack of them on their desk from all of you, we thank each of you for standing up for your heritage and true history as to the Native American community, again!

UNA. has been overwhelmed with letters of support on the Oklahoma  flag issue, we could never return our thanks to all that have responded to our press release on this issue.

Some of you have received a letter from Oklahoma Rep. Cox's stating he did not put down the Cherokee Indians in his press report. Well, he did! All of you that received his letter, know it's a politician back peddling on what he relay did say!

In one sentence Rep. Cox's says, his words were not toward the Indian community as to their ancestors of the Civil War and their support of the Confederate Army against the Union Army, and them saying they were the equal of the terrorist attacking America today.

Well, his words did say that!!! And a lot more, this is why UNA is calling for Rep. Cox's to step down from his office. he states, "smallpox and anthrax makes no difference, meaning that anything associated with the confederate flag should be condemned. Any flag associated with the Confederate flag means the same! His words were toward the terrorist of today in the use of his words.

Rep. Cox's had never heard of the federal government sending smallpox and anthrax into the Indian nations! Fact! He said it to us. He said, he was educated in African American history! That must have not included American Indians as a base of that African America history class! Why Not? If it had, he would know Indians were the victims of these diseases sent to them by the US Government under it's flag.

Indian nations and the Confederate government never tried to use biological warfare against the federal government during the Civil War! They wanted no part of it!! After the Civil War the federal Government went on with it's biological warfare against the Indian tribes. Fact!

Now Rep. cox's wants to only place the American flag and the Oklahoma flag on the capital grounds. He is now saying forget the historic flags of the state of Oklahoma! You may read between the lines of his words, we all now where he is coming from as a Rep. of the state of Oklahoma. it's a national agenda from the African American community to tell all of us they had it worse than anyone on earth!

The African American community needs to get off the hate of the past and live in their heart and words with the creator of all life and all known to mankind. The way you treat others is your life! how others treat you is their life is how they have been raised in our society of today, today started back in the 1960's with African Americans, as to American Indians, it started back when Columbus came around! 1492

Today, for Native Americans, no national holiday! No Native American on the US Supreme Court! No Native American President ever! No Native Americans on TV, No Native Americans in movies! No Native Americans in the national sports industries! The list goes on and on...

The Vietnam Vet's had a saying, what are we fighting for!!!

Okla. Rep. Cox's Email:
coxke@...

United NativeAmerica
www.UnitedNativeAmerica.com

1008 SE 10th St
Muldrow Oklahoma 74948

01-14-03
Letter to:
Speaker of the House
Rep. Larry E. Adair &
All members of the House

This letter is to inform you the Native American community of Oklahoma and nationwide is calling for a public apology and resignation of House Representative Kevin Cox for his racist and degrading remarks of Native Americans serving under the Cherokee Brave flag during the Civil War.

Rep. Cox on 01-09-03 reported to Oklahoma press that  he compared all that fought against the Federal government in the Civil War under any flag that looked like the Confederate flag were one in the same as terrorists plaguing the nation today.

Rep. Cox went on to say that any flag that looks like the Confederate flag stands for racism, the flag is the First National Flag's first cousin and represents hatred, discrimination, death and destruction to a group of people just like the many other Confederate flags. There are different types of Confederate flags, strains of smallpox and anthrax and whatever else you want to talk about, Cox said.

Rep. Cox also stated,
"I don't know why we are honoring a treasonous group that tried to overthrow the United States government."

The Cherokee Brave flag was flown from 1861-63 across much of the South. It was given to the Cherokees by the Confederate Commission when Cherokees entered the war on the Confederate side lead by  Brig. Gen. Stand Watie also Chief of the Cherokee Nation.

Rep. Cox's slanderous remarks toward Native Americans and their true history are not reversible and will not be tolerated. He has destroyed all creditability in himself for any citizen of Oklahoma to show respect or care for his continuance to serve as an elected representative in Oklahoma government.

Citizens of Oklahoma demand that the elected body of the Oklahoma House of representatives take all necessary steps to remove representative Kevin Cox from his office.

The manner in which this issue is handled should reflect the unity of all Oklahoma citizens and their support of each other in truth, fairness and respect of each other.

Rep. Kevin Cox has disgraced himself with his own words of false statements and lack of knowledge of true American history as to the Native American community he represents. He has dishonored his state and people he was elected to represent in good faith.

I hope that all the people who join this group will respect each
others views and religions, and will not try to convert people to
their own as I have seen done in some other groups, this is not what
we are about, I am a spiritualist but would not force my views onto
other people, everyone has a right to their own faith, please
remember this and do not condemn someone if they are not of the same
faith as you, we are all the same inside.
This group is about fighting for justice for indigenous people as the
title says, one of the injustices is that native prisoners are having
their right to their own faith taken away, this is very wrong! if you
do not agree with this, then you shouldn't be a member of this group,
it is bad enough that they are being wrongfully imprisoned without
their own ways being taken from them as well. Please help to stop
this!
Love Steph

Hello everyone,

I'm Jessie, I'm from Holland (or "the Netherlands" if you like) and I only know Stephanie for a few days!
She signed the guestbook on my website "Justice for Joe":

I started writing with him for about 5 years ago, because of my love and interest for the American Indians.
In the meantime I have 18 Native American friends in prison who all became very dear to me, don't get me wrong, I don't condone any crime whatsoever, but I have learned people can change!!!
I'm especially interested in wrongful convictions and I'm also struggling for the rights of Native American prisoners, because there are many cries unheard.........please take a moment to check this website out, and you'll see what I mean:

Also, visit my 2 other websites if you like:

Greetings, Jessie

Welcome to all

This is the first time I have even thought of hosting a site, so I
hope you will bear with me,but I felt so strongly that I needed to
help in some way, and I would be grateful for any helpful input, I
have made some lovely friends that have helped me, so it is my turn
to do what i can for others.
I am looking forward to meeting you all and hope you will also wish
to help, but even if you just wish to chat, that is ok too,

Love Steph
