Description

Two African American journalists on assignment in Toronto, Canada were accosted by Toronto Police Department and were the victims of unfair treatment, arrest and harassment.
A policeman from Precinct 51 approached the couple and just started asking us all of questions ?Who are you? Where are you going? Why are you here??
After verbal exchange between Ann, Tonye and the officer, both policemen exited their cars and approached them. One of the policeman turned to his partner, and said, "Welcome to the job. This is the kind of crap you have to put up with"
The verbal exchange escalated and the policeman said to Allen, ?Now you've gone too far and you're under arrest"
The policeman grabbed Allen by the arm and radioed for back up.
Five policeman arrived and approached Tonye, they pulled him down and kicked him. then pepper sprayed him, while the other officers began striking his head and torso with a night stick, the beat him 3 times, on the street, in the hospital and at the police station
After paying $1,000 dollars bail to release Allen from jail, Brown said that the police confiscated their passports.
Brown and Allen have retained Jason Bogle, a Canadian lawyer to represent them in court.
Brown said that she and her fiancé are attempting to contact civil rights legal expert Lanie Guinier and former boxer and activist Ruben ?Hurricane? Carter for help. They also hope that Our Weekly readers can provide legal and financial assistance. Readers interested in contacting the couple can contact them at their blog at tonyeallenandannbrown.blogspot.com
