Wow! Did anyone read the article in the paper yesterday about this? Apparently, some Russian scientists were able to grow whole new plants from cells taken from the fruit of a little arctic flower that died 32,000 years ago and has been frozen in permafrost ever since! The cells were from the fruit's placenta -- the part of the fruit that produce the plant's seeds.
I found this to be heartening -- it gave me hope that maybe little seeds that have been in me, though perhaps dormant my whole life thus far, can actually, under the right conditions, still germinate, grow and blossom to their full potential. Food for thought...
