Description

For folks that have or are interested in one of the oldest of The Heritage Breeds of Chickens in the USA. The wonderful Java!
I have emailed so many people and not gotten a reply and the sites listed on many Web Pages are no longer found. So I will start a yahoogroup and see what happens?

My incubators are almost full and more due to hatch this weekend.

anyothers out there?

All are welcome to post info. and photos.

We want to do a national count of the adult Java Chickens each member has in Feb. 2008. The # of Blacks, the # of Whites, and the # of Mottled birds + any other color. (I sure hope that someone has buff, red or blue fowl to report and send pics for all to enjoy)

Larry

I will keep a non-published list on my pc for breeders (or anyone) that do not want their address given out. I fully understand and correspondence will be private. My address is daturapod@aol.com We need to keep a list of everyone that have Javas because we will do a National Count every Feb.

Re: pullet vs cockerel identification
I really struggle to tell the sex on my Javas early on. Other breeds it seems to be much more obvious earlier but I remove cockerels as I am sure they are male

Size of comb and wattles also.  I don't always see the comb color redden as quickly as I see the comb and wattles grow.  Usually the wattles are a hair more

pullet vs cockerel identification
My Javas are about 10 weeks old and I am fairly sure I have identified the cockerels and pullets. I plan to separate the cockerels from the pullets next
