Akalanka was Jainism's foremost logician. His impact on Jaina and
indeed Indian Nyayasastra was such that the Jaina school of Logic
has often been described as 'Akalanka Nyaya'. His masterpiece,
"Laghiyastraya" is a seminal work on Jaina Logic, its succinctness
belies its penetrating logic.

Prabhacandra, the 10th century Jaina logician known for his
exhaustive commentaries on Jaina texts, composed the
"Nyayakumudacandra" a Sanskrit commentary on "Laghiyastraya".
It reflects such deep reflection and original insights that it is treated
as on original work.

Prabhacandra studied all the systems of Indian philosophy and
using them as purvapaksha he presented the Jaina Doctrine as the
uttarapaksha. This work is a Hindi epitome of the original Sanskrit
work.

The author Sarvadarshanacarya Prof. Udayachandra Jain
belongs to the North Indian Digambara lay scholarship tradition.
