Description

Jacob Stroup came to this country in 1733 as Johann Jacob Straub. He was a young boy that was born in Germany. Jacob Stroup grew up in Pennsylvania and Maryland. As a young man Jacob Stroup came to Hoyles Creek in Tryon County, North Carolina where he received a Royal Land Grant of 200 acres. Jacob Stroup is the Patriarch of Stroups in NC, Ga, Sc, Tx and Missouri plus other states.
I was born in Cherryville, NC and am part of the Shooting Stroups of North Carolina. I completed a DNA test to verify my connection to Jacob Stroup and his father Johann Pieter Straub.
I started this group in order to give Stroups a place to exchange information, photos and learn more about their great history. I am now in possession of Ethel Stroupes files and wanting to share this wealth of family history. A special thanks goes to her daughter Lee and Dr. Reiley Kidd for making all this possible.
