DEAR AJA: Following is the official scoop on the festa this weekend. So far
only Ray has volunteered to come juggle on Saturday afternoon from 2-4pm at
Horizon School with me. Don't let the $100 ticket price scare you...we just
figured if you could say "$10 or PAY WHATEVER YOU CAN", you could just as easily
say "$100 or PAY WHATEVER YOU CAN". I figure two hours of juggle time is worth
at least $50 per hour...and an impromptu 2-5minute juggle performance
Thur-Fri-Sat evening could be worth up to $200 of donation--more than enough to
cover your ticket price, especially if you make a small monetary donation too.
Just give me a clue if you're inclined to come so I can inform the ticket
takers.

Note that Friday night the DVO plays , Lisa Q will do a monlogue, and I will do
my new Afghan War Rug piece
Thanks, Toni

Café Bizzoso (OCT 14-16) and Fiesta (OCT 16)
Suggested donation $100 or PAY WHATEVER YOU CAN

WHY THE BIG BIZZOSO?
Normando Ismay, a.k.a. Papa Bizzoso, was diagnosed
with malignant melanoma this summer. He had surgery
on August 16, and the good news is that the test
results show that the cancer had not spread. The bad
news is that, like many artists and 41 million other
Americans, Normando doesn't have health insurance.
In light of Normando's situation and in recognition
that a "for profit" health care system is an atrocity
in a country as advanced as the United States -
performing and visual artists are coming together to
do something about the situation. Normando and other
artists are forming a Collective for Artists's Health
Resources, that will serve as a resource to direct
artists to affordable health insurance, and a
replinishable fund for artists to borrow emergency
funds from.

This event is being organized with the generous
support and assistance of Alternate ROOTS and the
artists of Alternate ROOTS and special thanks to
Horizons School for the donation of their space.

Please Join Us, or send friends, or send us your best
wishes!!!!
If you want You can make your contributions to:
Alternate ROOTS, and write "Normando Medical" in the
memo section, and mail to Alternate ROOTS, 1083 Austin
Ave, Atlanta, GA 30307.

Call me with questions, etc.
Ciao, Celeste

Actually the dates are Oct. 22 and 23. Andy and I will be there for the
parade on Saturday (and maybe Friday night too). He'll be playing clarinet
with the Abombs and I'll be swinging poi behind the band. It's a fun parade
(starts at 5 PM)....we need more jugglers and unicyclists! Come join us.

My internal calendar for the month of October has been all screwed up. Please
don't allow my confusion to be contagious.

The Bizzoso event is Oct 14, 15, 16. We need jugglers on SATURDAY AFTERNOON
from 2-4pm, although your attendance is appreciated any evening.

The Little Five Points Halloween Festival and Parade is as Joyce pointed out,
the next weekend Friday Oct 22 for the Findley Plaza Festival wherein any
jugglers are welcome to stroll & juggle in the plaza, and the Parade on Saturday
Oct 23. Join Joyce for that one. Children's events will be happening at the
community center on Saturday afternoon.

You have to register with AJC and there are no pictures, but there
you go. It's a nice article, with a few mistakes. The biggest one is
that he made it sound like I make $600 a show and left teaching to
make more money. I know of no solo artist who makes near that in
schools. I do this because I love reaching kids with a positive
message and I have been very fortunate or blessed (your choice)to
make a living since August 99. I still struggle every month to make
the mortgage payment, just in case anyone thinks that it is easy
money out here. But if you want to love what you do and be your own
boss, then go for it! I would also recommend you read Team
Rootberry's article in JUGGLE about professional juggling.
Finally, you should learn all you can from folks like Jonathan,
Bruce, Rick, DrewBob, Meredith, Chicago Bob, Charles, Keith, Karl,
Randy, the Howards, etc. I owe ya'll a lot! By the way Charles,
exactly what do you mean by, "Quite A Spread"? Are you referring to
the article or me?
Still Quite A Catch,
;-)Ron

boss, then go for it!

Thanks for the linque, bro. And the unsolicited praise. I personally
myself am more a juggler than a teacher (heh). And only a mediocre
juggler at that. I find that writing code offers much easier money than
performing.

As for spreads, I was referring to the paper, honest!

I called Kristen and told her that I had one plate, but if they
needed someone who had the apparatus for multiple plate spinning
(ala Ed Sullivan Show), then she should contact Nathan Dorrell out
in Villa Rica. I think he is hired. Is there anyone else here in
Georgia that does multiple plates?

On another note, is anyone in this group besides me going to Vegas
in December for WJF?

Finally, Don Rieder, the main character coach for Cirque du Soleil
will be in Atlanta from Nov 1-5 to conduct training for our Cirque
du Monde unit. I will invite him to juggling of course and will let
ya'll know if he can come. Have you heard that Cirque's next show,
also to be based in Vegas, will be about the Beatles? I kid you not.
Evidently Guy Laliberte and George Harrison were friends.

I am the Walrus, at least that's what the kids tell me after my
shows. :-) Ron
