RE: Barient 21 winch servicing

Winch grease for the drum/rollers and for the brass gears only. Don’t use too much it will slow things down and you will lose advantage.

Always use a thin machine oil or similar for the pawls otherwise they will stick.

Subject: [J27Sailors] Barient 21 winch servicing

I purchased Harken winch grease last week to service my four barient winches.

Upon opening the tube I read the attatched tag taht said to use on metal parts and do not use on plastic rollers or on pawls.

Of course when I took the drum off the winch most of the moving parts and all the rollers looked to be som sort of plastic material

It has been suggested I can us McLube from Harken.  Any comments and what do others use?  ..

Mike
