Description

The focus of this strategic thinking discussion group is to advance communications and capabilities to better address asymmetric threats and conflicts spanning the globe--by leveraging best practices in irregular warfare-related techniques and solutions through academia, private, and public sectors, which may not be thinking of their work in terms of warfare, rule of law improvements, stability operations, and humanitarian efforts. The ideal outcome is improved framing of complex issues and creative approaches to solving them.

While terms like "hybrid" or "irregular conflicts/challenges" are emerging more and more, this group is being labeled as "Irregular Warfare" in focus due to the current DoD directives and many military, government, and private sector consulting shops being staffed up along Irregular Warfare lines. It is our aspiration to create hybrid multi-sector solutions to global risks and bridging the idea gaps in military and government between the vivacious "young Turks" and seasoned "grey-beards".

A primary solution focus of this discussion group and its exchanges are on IW-related Education and Training, Innovative Approaches to Complex Problem Solving or Problem Identification, Creative Mass Mobilization for Communities of Interest, and review of historic unconventional/irregular warfare strategies and strategists for application today.

As a reminder, the discussions are UNCLASSIFIED and should be kept at professional / respectful levels in debate. Feel free to use user names if you prefer not to identify yourself, however, discussions will not be posted for open public view.

Membership is restricted with the moderator approving all requests for membership to ensure appropriate access to exchanges. This group also allows members to hide their email address from the group for greater anonymity. Please join us and share with others whom you believe may have unique skill sets that compliment our initiative.
