Composed of mostly Tagalog speaking Batch '61 graduates of historic Manila High School, alma mater of Carlos P. Romulo and late Presidents Roxas, Laurel and Quirino. Products of a truly peripatetic (sometimes just plain pathetic)post war school system where, rain or shine, "barya"-challenged students trudged from the relentless aircraft drone of Feati, across MacArthur Bridge to Mehan Gardens (by way of the Metropolitan Theater ruins)where Quonset Huts with projectile ceilings and a dud bomb shell serving as a bell welcomed them, before moving on past City Hall and the pitiful, forever dying zoo of a hopeful priest, to another series of make-shift edifices housing vocational classes and occasional science and math subjects.

We were teen-agers then, subject to battles with floods, standing room buses and overcrowded jeepneys,low self-esteem, poverty-level allowances,bad skin, poor dental hygiene, strict parents and stricter churches... and on and on and on! This was the very early 60s... Sputnik, transistor radios, and Elvis Presley were all the rage. Nida Blanca and Gloria Romero were icons, along with Da Low Waist Gang, Nestor De Villa and Luis Gonzalez.

We did not care who was in Malacanang.
