For intermarried families who are interested in exploring deeper engagement
with Judaism. This group is specifically for intermarried families who are
considering becoming Jewish families through the Jewish partner embracing
stronger Jewish practice and the non-Jewish partner becoming a full-fledged
member of the Jewish people. The group is open both to families who have
already adopted this as a goal and those who just wish to explore this
possibility in a safe, non-threatening environment.

Several members have been through this process & can help by sharing their
experiences, & serve as mentors on the myriad issues that come up.

Topics for discussion include but are not limited to fitting into a Jewish
community, feelings of identity & connectedness, finding a synagogue, how a
Jewish lifestyle affects or influences our relations with family (immediate,
extended, in-laws) & friends, what steps to take & when to take them,
conversion, Shabbat, keeping kosher, books, Jewish notions of modesty,
crafts, recipes, Jewish family life, etc.

The moderators work hard to keep this list friendly & supportive while
allowing for intense discussions about a number of topics relevant to
families in the process of becoming more observant & converting, as well as
families who wish to explore the possibility of living a fuller Jewish life.

A traditional understanding of Jewish law, as exemplified by Orthodox (O)
Judaism, is the foundation of this group. This group is open to all: O,
non-O, those considering or already pursuing an O conversion, a non-O
conversion, or not yet considering but open & interested in learning more.
We encourage probing questions and open discussion. But we ask members to
refrain from postings specifically antithetical to O Judaism, likely to
cause the conversation to devolve into a debate about O vs. non-O or
encourage “bashing” of any movement.
