We are glad to inform that His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Didymos I, HH Mar
Baselius Marthoma Didimos I has appointed ICON founder and senior member of
the Church, Mr. Jose Kurien Puliyeril as the General Secretary of Aghila
Malankara Orthodox Shushroosha Sangam (AMOSS) . HG Dr. Gabriel Mar
Gregoriose of Trivandrum Diocese is the President and Rev. Fr. Thomas
Andrews is the Vice President of AMOSS. The Central Office of AMOSS has
started functioning from Catholicate Aramana, Devalokam, Kottayam.
We have no doubt that Jose Uncle is the right person for such a
responsibility, who has served the Altar since the age of 12 years for more
than 50 years.


Born to P.K. Kurian and Mariyamma Kurian (blessed memory) of Puliyeril
family Kollad, Kottayam, on 9th May 1946, Jose Kurian Puliyeril, was chosen
at the age of 12, by the then Vicar to serve the altar of St Paul's Church
Kollad. He has not looked back from then till today which he considers as a
privilege while many of his co-acolytes could not carry on that mantle of
dedication and service.


One of the founder members of the present St. George Orthodox Cathedral, Abu
Dhabi (1969), Mr Jose Puliyeril was the founder Secretary of Orthodox Youth
Movement in UAE, being the first secretary of Abu Dhabi Unit. He had served
many tenures as the Secretary, Trustee, Auditor, Sunday School Teacher of
the Cathedral in addition to being the General Convener of Parish's silver
Jubilee celebrations in `93-94. After serving in Abu Dhabi for about 38
years in Govt. and Private sector, he left Abu Dhabi for good during end
2008 and has settled at his home town Kollad, Kottayam. His outstanding
contributions include 8 books published in English, translated from
Malayalam. He has also authored five books in English and one book in
Malayalam besides an array of articles in the internet magazines as well as
contemporary publications. He had been regularly writing the weekly
devotional thoughts in SGOS, for the past five years continuously, based on
the specified Holy Gospel reading for each Sunday. He is a regular
contributor of authentic writings on various topics, especially the Faith
and Traditions of the Holy Church and the teachings of our Church Fathers,
in ICON. He is currently the Editor of Orthodox Herald and Voice of
Orthodoxy.
