All, Poor fellow, this Afis. In his mail, he tried to take on me on the point that I was wrong in saying that I do not know him because he is simply anonymous but he did not even understand me at all. Or who was it that wrote this: Personally I don't know you, I hardly know thieves and friends of thieves. Okay? Tony Eluemunor read the above again, you are somehow a college graduate, does that imply we are buddies And this too? You and I have crossed paths on these forums, and using the statement BY NOW due to some encounters on the forum YOU KNOW what would come from me, I think that does not imply I love you, I eat with you or I know you personally. Okay? Tony Eluemunor, stop flattering yourself.   And when I pointed out to him how miserably wrong he has been, he who tried to make me look small by reminding me of my having a College education and not justifying it in my mails, and I challenged him to meet me squarely on the points under discussion, including faulting my stand that I do not know him, he descended, head first into one of the deepest pits in hell, cursing as he fled, and this time trying to make it appear he was talking about corruption all the while. Talk about rampaging hypocrisy and you would be talking about Afis. He tried in his mail to fault my stand that I do not know him, but instead of staying the course, he has fled when faced with superior argument.  Now, he is not ready to face the issues at all. When some persons are cornered and the emptiness of their stance is made manifest, they begin to play tough to hide their hollowness. God knows that he dragged college education into the discussion. I repeat the question: “Afis, have I defended my certificates or not?” Also, I do not know where Afis saw ten paragraphs in my mail; well, he may have been seeing double! Well, I will wait for Afis to return to the issues under discussion for I have more words to send his way. Thanks. And it makes it clear that there is cause for worry.   I know Seyi A but I do not know Afis. I do not know whether he is Odidiare or Mr. Idiot, just as I do not know whether the man behind the Leye Ige alias is the great Prof Aluko we are conversant with here - or not. Afis pleaded his curse-laden exertions on the internet fora as the reason for our having known ourselves. Yes, I know there is a quack-salver here whose Bible must be the “Book of Insults”, whose discussion foundations are almost always made of quicksand, and whose cursing tongue is always in quick fire position and which some persons may mistake for being quick-witted. And even if I may not have met some members of these discussion fora personally, I may have picked up some details of their lives apart from their names, and may then claim to know them – from afar. And there are certain others, always content to exist in the margin of life, that we will never know.  If you know a person, you will know what he stands for. I care little about people or non-persons who limp up, with a mighty effort, from deep obscurity and do nothing but spew out insults and abuses endlessly as though they are incapable of stringing two thoughts together. And to tell the truth, I do not want to know Afis at all!   Now, have I defended my certificates enough? Now, who was the one lost in the woods?  If I have defended my certificates to Afis’ satisfaction, perhaps he would return to the points I raised, puncture them or maintain silence. To leave the issues at hand and begin to insult discussants is a poor attempt to hide one’s non-preparedness to partake in the great conversation that is supposed to be on here – about ourselves and our country and our world.     And in case, yes just in case, Afis has forgotten, I have to remind him that the issue under discussion is Dr. Emeka Ugwuonye’s victory at the Lagos High Court. It would be nice to have his contribution on that, especially his opposition to the points I attempted to marshal out. He may fault my points and I could even thank him and learn from my mistakes and his lessons. That is life; we live and learn.   By the way, this is by no means a plea to Afis to embrace quietism or become a quietist though nothing is wrong with quietude once in a while. He even called me a thief. Yet, what  I find most objectionable is that he announced that "Tony knows Afis".   God forbid; I do not know who or whatever goes by the alias of Afis. Please believe me, I do not know Afis, and I pray NEVER to have the misfortune of knowing  him. Whenever I see that alias, a thought always comes to mind; that if per chance, St Peter were to open the Pearly Gates for him, he would openly laddle a hefty dolop of abuses on the Apostle and then jauntily walk straight right into hell. Why? Force of habit!   Afis often reminds me of Gen. Buhari's resolve not to meet with IBB, immediately after his release from detention. He said he would meet IBB only in the Mosque or in Heaven.   Well, I do not have fears about meeting Afis because he would have no need for a church and about heaven, he has already occupied a high seat in the devil's court - just like Sowore the liar and assistant father of liars.   Please, take note everybody, I know NOT anybody called Afis on these fora. And I pray NEVER to know him. Seyi I know. He is a journalist and a lawyer who was highly regarded in any newsroom he had worked in.   Thanks. He worked for the Guardian newspaper group in its glorious days. He may have actually worked in the Legal Department of Albarka Airlines, again now defunct.   Yet, what I do not know is what pushed Seyi to imply that a case which a Lagos High Court struck out for want of territorial jurisdiction could ever be brought back to any High Court in Nigeria. I am not a lawyer, yet I know that a State High Court in Nigeria is a court of record, and unless the EFCC DEFEATS Dr.. Emeka Ugwuonye at the Court of Appeal level, the matter is dead and closed!   And if Ugwuonye opposed EFCC over territorial jurisdiction, then he did win some awesome victory. It is not just because victory is victory and is victory that I say so, but because here is a man that had been labeled a criminal in these internet fora, without even allowing the case to finish, here was a man that was denied bail, locked up in solitary confinement (if I remember correctly), etc.   What I really find baffling here is why Seyi and others who share his position, have been blind to the real veritas in this instant occasion; that it should have been suspected by the lawyers in EFCC that the case before them and against Ugwuonye MIGHT lack territorial jurisdiction, yet, they threw everything they had into it and against the man.   Seyi has asked us to call attention to the fate of the man who accused Ugwuonye of defrauding him; but even as much as an accuser may have some rights,  and claims, so too does the person he has accused have certain basic rights too. What Seyi and his co-travelers on that curious route of his forgot so trenchantly is the fact that just as there is the chance that Ugwuonye's accuser may have been defrauded, so too the chance exists that he COULD be a false accuser!   Then, if we factor in Bolaji Aluko's allleged influence on the case, then there is the great need to worry if ever there is some truth in that allegation. If there is, then there is a very, very great need to worry for it could mean that anyone that has the attention of any who could muster any force within the EFCC could get anyone to be declared wanted. What that would mean about Aluko's personality is another matter altogether. But as I said, we still dwell at the level of conjecture on this issue.   We are living witnesses to some self-serving nastiness but we have chosen to shut our eyes and minds to them - to our collective detriment. Saharamalreporters would ever be terribly in the wrong if they would gather Aluko or any other interested party's opinion against a sworn enemy and fraudulently broadcast same as pure veritas. And yet, the same malreporters who claim to be fighting corruption would corruptly enrich themselves from swindling well-meaning organizations such as the Ford Foundation, through fraudulent claims, even after getting visas on false pretences. And nuhu Ribadu would get the Sowores a chance to mount the same rostrum with my own teacher, the great Chinua Achebe, to denounce corruption. UGWUONYE IN LAGOS COURT JUDGMENT  “The High Court Judge in Lagos declined jurisdiction on territorial grounds over Sola Adeeyo’s  EFCC-brought case of dupery against Emeka Ugwuonye, without precluding the EFCC refile of the case in another court, and, without precluding EFCC’s legal right to proceed on appeal. One is that EFCC at least, and possibly Mr. Sola Adeeyo, abused the Nigerian Judicial system. These were my understanding of Emeka’s position as he has always pleaded that the courts did not have jurisdiction. It is difficult to see how one could say that EFCC or Mr. Adeeyo won. It is also difficult to see how that could be a tie. So in the absence of a tie or a win for the other side it is difficult to see how Mr. Ugwuonye could not declare a victory.   I do not argue with lawyers on points of law but debate them on common sense. All my arguments above are based on common sense.   My second ground for seeing victory is that as of this May 30, 2012 Mr. Ugwuonye does not have to do anything. The ball has been kicked over by the court to Mr. Adeeyo’s court. The next move is all his own. Until he makes his next move and wins in that round victory belongs to Mr. Ugwuonye.   Mr. Awofeso could be right in saying that the current decision may not be the ultimate decision but I think he has jumped the gun. His has allowed his emotion to over rule his judgment. I do so un-erringly; regardless who did the posting, because ethnic labels or slurs never colour my judgment.   That said, there can be no doubt that the Nigerian government and its institutions are corrupt. But it should not have taken Emeka on his own part a court case for $1.55million tax refund to blow the whistle if indeed he knew that obvious fact all along.   Honesty does not depend on convenience or monetary gain. Casting insults about instead, as he does, are ultimately un-availing.   Hence, i stated this morning that "success for Emeka Ugwuonye" in the context of his reputation trial, means he has to obtain three (3) separate court judgments showing:    that Saharareporters lied against him for reportedly converting the Nigerian Embassy 1.55million tax refund;  that the Embassy lied against him for suing for the same 1.55million tax refund which the Nigerian Embassy is not lawfully un-entitled to receive from him, that he violated no law in Nigeria for seizing and spending the Nigerian Embassy funds at will in the circumstances he described in his defensive pleading in the U.S District Court for D.C, even if the 1.55million dollars tax refund was to be classifiable as government revenue under the EFCC Act.  Success means making a showing on those three (3) counts to restore his beleagured reputation.
