I've been using PAL with my six-year-old daughter since last fall. We're on
lesson 60-something in PAL-Reading, and Part 2, Lesson 12 in the writing.
She knows almost all of the word cards that I've introduced, but she struggles
to sound out new words. Since the activity games are so easy, I've been looking
at starting the discovery packs. After working with her this morning, it's
fairly clear that she can't decode the words. She can identify the consonant and
vowel teams but can't put them all together in longer words. She does really
well with spelling cvc words in her AAS lessons, but can't always read new
short-vowel words.
Any suggestions for how to give her extra decoding practice?
