ICAN provides a forum where women can recover after a cesarean, and express their thoughts and concerns about birth. It is a support network for women healing from past birth experiences and for those preparing for future births. The Portland chapter meets on the 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00 pm. The ICAN of Portland yahoogroup allows women who attend meetings a way to connect between those meetings. Because of the intimate and private nature of the discussions taking place here and in meetings, we consider this a sacred space and mutual support group. This means to us that it is a safe place for women to share their experiences fully. For that reason, this group is open only to women who have experienced a cesarean themselves.
