The International Cesarean Awareness Network, Inc. is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, providing support for cesarean recovery, and promoting Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC).
In addition to this group, ICAN of Seattle offers an extensive lending library, phone peer counseling, care provider referrals, and two educational and supportive meetings each month.
Our evening meetings are open to the public. Dads, doulas, childbirth educators, moms, and other interested parties are welcome to attend. They take place on the second Tuesday of each month at the Seattle Holistic Center, Greenlake location, 7700 Aurora Ave. north from 7pm to 9pm. Babies are welcome.
Our morning meetings are on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 10 AM. Meeting locations vary but are all on the Eastside. These meetings are specifically tailored to the needs of women who have experienced cesarean surgery and those planning VBAC. Children of all ages are welcome.
