Description
ic706@yahoogroups.com:
This list was set up in 1998 by Pete Brunelli, N1QDQ although he is no longer connected to it I'd like to thank him for his work making it the most popular 706 list on the internet.
A list dedicated to the interests of users of the 706 series of compact HF/6/2/70 ham radios. Topics such as actual and desired features, actual or desired performance, installation, troubleshooting, software/computer control, and anything else that 706-heads would find USEFUL is in-play.
Do not use the forum to badmouth 706 users, flame sellers of equipment, start bitch-wars, in fact anything that isn't in the spirit of amateur radio and being courteous to one another. Subscribers that post or repost offensive language to the list will be put on moderated posting or summarily banned from the list at the discretion of the moderators, please remember this isn't a democracy. Subscription to this list is an indication that you intend to stay on-topic and exhibit acceptable netiquette. My preference is that if you don't have anything positive to say, don't say it. Please keep relevant for sale posts limited to one per month or less, preferrably less and no commercials. Abuse of this policy will result in removal from the list. If you request help through the group please do not ask for private replies, responses via the list benefit everyone.
NOTICE: The content of the list is not screened prior to posting unless you are new. The moderators reserve the right to put a member on moderated posting, unsubscribe a member, or ban a member. We hope that it does not have to happen. Please keep your off-topic posts, political rants, non-ic706 related commercial advertisements, and foul language off the list and it should not be a problem. If you think that a post might become a problem, it probably will.

Listen on your 2nd radio to the input frequency of the repeater, not the output. If there is no noise, then the problem is your signal level into the

Thanks for your discerning evaluation Ralph, I never thought about anything like that. To verify, I'll shut off the shack receiver and then get some radio

You are also likely desensing your 2nd radio by transmitting near it on a near by frequency. There will be no densense if you listen on the input frequency.
