No, don't worry, you weren't the only one who at 11 PM wanted to go bang
your head into a wall. That was me last night, too. And earlier this
morning at 1:20. And right now at 5:06 AM. Yes, can we say
sleep-deprived? This is my second straight night of only getting just
barely 2 hours of sleep, and why? Cuz of IB. Of course, I might get
lucky today and not *have* to go into school until after math, my first
class of the day. Hehe, I wonder why I want to miss math, such a
wonderful class...

Well, must get back to Music Theory and HISTORY!!!!

I'm new to this list, although I graduated from IB last spring.
But I thought I'd join the list and see if anyone is lost and in need in
salvation.
I know I was, when I was in 10-12th grade..
But you know, it _is_ possible to survive, without getting a burnout..
And you don't _have_ to graduate with 45 points, anyway most of us don't..

So what subjects did I take?
Well, I went to Vasa Övningskola in Vaasa, Finland, and it's a school with
not too many options so I took European History HL (I might be able to help
you Kat, and others), Math studies (didn't feel like calculating much..),
Biology SL (wish they'd had HL), English HL, Swedish (native language 1) and
Finnish (native language 2)..

Although I love history and biology, I spent many nights thinking if I'd
just jump off the balcony or something..
However, I ruled against it, clenched my teeth and wrote my reports, essays,
internally assessed works, EEs, TOKs, did my CAS...

I was this close to a burnout--> "___" (measure with your fingers..)

But I found that just relaxing, and taking it easy was the easiest way to
prevail..
And for god's sake, _don't_ leave everything undone til the last minute...
It's hell..
But not that I have the right to preach about it, since I myself left most
assignments til the last night before deadline...

Also, during the weekends, don't stay at home & study & do homework..
Because you don't get much done anyway on a saturday night, when you know
all your friends are at the pub or a party..

And if you can't relax in front of the computer 8 hours before deadline, a
good ol' whisky often helps... It cures anything, you know..
Don't drink coffee, or at least not more than a cup, because you'll only
upset your stomach and spend most of the night hearing your gut grumble..

Hot cocoa with a bit of menthol scnapps is quite refreshing and energizing
also..

It's also a good idea to listen to music, since the lyrics might get you
going, and the melody keeps it flowing.. (rhyme - cool..)
But don't listen to any pop, backstreet boys, r'n'b or that kind of shit,
since they only use meaningless words.. "Yeah, baby, baby, i'm sooo in
looove with yooouuu, lalalalaaa, yeah whuzzup, kill dat nigga yeah goddamn
bitch" etc.etc.

Get my point?

Ok, good luck for now..

*stands up and tries to look brave*

Hello, im Kat, and im an IB student.

heh. anyhow, im in 10th grade. okay, im NOT an IB student. im a Pre-B.
how cute! i live in florida, and thought maybe i could seek some salvation
in the pain of others that suffer like i do. this was basically provoked by
my just finishing an out-of-class DBQ for Ap European History, and wondering
if i was the only person in the world up at 11 pm, wanting to bang my head
into a wall because i wound myself to get this down and im positive i wont
be able to sleep now. and im rambling. and i just realized i havent used
capital letters, or apostrophes once yet in this Email! I think my brain is
officially fried now, and I'm going to sleep. Or to toss and turn a lot.
Something of that nature. I'm done. And I'm sorry.

Goodnight, sweet dreams,

Hi again. I really dont know if this list is dead. If it is, I guess I am just
talking to empty cyber space, but....

I just finished the second day at the pre-IB programme in Sweden. Those two days
consisted of Break and Information. Not just any information though... We were
informed of the school policy!!! Hvitfeldtska's policy if to give the students
an easy start...The first week we hardly have a single real class...

Yeah, yeah, every thing about IB seems great, and I think I will have the time
of my life!

So here I am, everyone, I survived my second day as an official IB
student. Geez, second day and we've already been assigned an essay. I
love teachers, don't you? 36 CAS hours down, 114 to go. I am ready to
scream! Soooo much pressure already. Math Studies...not bad, really. Or
so it seems. Spanish SL...lecture already. Music Theory SL...I thought
it would be fun. I THOUGHT it would be fun. History HL...notes on 3
chapters, due Friday. Biology HL, seems ok, haven't really done
anything...yet. Band...I know, it's not IB, but it's still one of my
classes. And today was pretty boring. Finally, English HL! Of course, we
got to work right away. The teacher couldn't find his syllabus. And
aren't I lucky, my teacher is a first-time IB instructor. Oh well, I'll
live with it. I must go now, study study study!

Stressed and about to explode,
Nina

Hello. My name is David Remahl and I live in Sweden. I am 16
years old, and in a few weeks I'll be an IB student! I have about 10
kilometers, (uh, that'll be about 6.25 miles, right?) to the school. Its
name is "Hivtfeldtska Gymnasiets".

I really look forward to this and I hope I get into talking English
instead of Swedish with my teachers. Anyone else on this list who
is studying in Sweden?

My biggest interrest is computers. I own 7 of them. The two most
recent are:
	 *iMac-333MHz G3
	 *PII-350MHz, 64MB RAM
If anyone speak Swedish, you may visit my homepage at:
http://hem.passagen.se/dare/ it is about Macintosh. Though the
info is somewhat outdated since I haven't updated for a year.

Right now I am programming a cross platform game. If there are
any talanted computer artists out there who can help me with
some of the graphics, I would be very happy.

I also have a dog, a Leonberger, named 'Tasha'.

/By for now,
David Remahl,
dare@...

PS. Is IB really that terrible? ( you are giving me cold feets) DS.

Ah yes, first I'ld like to say that I'm happy to see a coping mechanism set up
to make sure that we all don't go crazy. My name is unimportant, but all you have
to know is where I'm coming from.I attend the IB program at Lincoln Park High
School in Chicago where I am a junior. I've just finished my five week stay on
the Northwesten campus in Evanston, IL where I took part in NHSI's Leadership
and Community Involvement program. I just got back and I'm still crying and all
of that good stuff, but I still feel that I'm just a little incoherent, being
away from the IB curriculumn. Well I hope to get from you what I already have
from a few of the other International IB students I've gotten to know over my
high school experience.I've been told that I am at times offensive, and I'm sure
that I've offended a few individuals in my comedic persuits, but I believe that
my behavior and this run on sentence will change the world's views and ideas.

enjoying it....
oh..I"m not sure if I'm alowed to do this, but if anyone is into TOK,

just in case you hold a grudge against all Germans, *sigh* (isn't this all
so stupid on my behalf?) Anyway, if you hold a grudge, please know that I am
very sorry for what happened, and seeing that I wasn't alive, I couldn't do
anything to stop it all...I'll shut up now, because most people I do this

Cool....you (as most of us seem to be) seem much more mature than your age,
I fugured you might be in uni now! Well cool about the German, I speak
German myself, it's my mother tounge. If you ever have any problems, gimme
a buz or something! I take it that the numbers behind the languages are hte
level of the class you're taking? I don't know Hebrew, although I'm sure it
would be cool, I took French immersion all through junior high, and I
finished my French 2subsid, as I think I mentioned to you earlier. Shame
about the IB dropout *L* bur hey, in a way, I'm a survivor like you, I mean
my pals who are in hell right now, I cuildnt imagine being them, we're
talking Dipshit! *L* History is the killer, with all the essays, but we're
doing all the orals (oh, mine was hellish! oh well, I found out it's worth
abotu 1% of your final IB mark!) and external essays, and *sigh* those poor
dips, they had to do their extended, which really sucked. I have a pal who
didn't even get to start writing her external essay1 for English until the
day both 1 and 2 were supposed to be sent away. She skipped all her classes
and stayed in the library all day to write it! Got it done just in time for
the bell to ring! Oh well....now it's march break! FREEDOM! *L*
toodles!

So far you're almost the only one who's said anything (there aren't a

English (pretty much a duh), French 3/4, German 2, Spanish 1, and Hebrew
3. Languages are cool...math is evil. Any one have any tips on
surviving Geometry? Because I'm SO not liking that classe!

It's great to meet you!
Back to the homework...*gag*

Well, Ann-Marie, that sure is an interesting opening statement.....I
actually read it! :)
I"m Sara, from Nova Scotia Canada, taking a few IB courses, and of course,
laughing at my Dip friends! *grin* I started out being a dip in grade 10,
but figured it wasn't worth the agony at the end of it *LMAO* boy was I EVER
right....I took BiologyS1 and FrenchS2 last year, as well as my EnglishH1
...then this year I got smart, dropped the Bio, and the french was done
anyway, so now I"m just in TOK and English..I'm scared out of my mind though
because tomorrow *ARGH!!!* is my Enlish oral...yup...the biggie...if anyone
has some good advice, please blab!!! Hmm...more about me....well...I like
my English....and I started off doing wonders in TOK, and it is my favorite
subject, but ARGH....I'm really sucking at essays lately...well....sucking
in my opinion......70s...not my fave type of mark...hmm...alright..so next
year I plan on going to Ryerson Politechnic University to take a BAA in Film
Production, and if I don't get in, I"ll cry for a month. I sent off
everyhting...now I just need luck...
So where is everyone from, and DAMN I wish I had found this group MUCH
sooner! *L* Well......I guess I"ll be hearing from someone...and please do
tell me if there's another person from Canada, or even better, Nova Scotia!
Toodles!
Sara
hey.....know Motrin? I love that .....Motrin IB pain reliever! *ROTFLMAO*
oh...and Ann-Marie....I take it you're a survivor? You speak with so much
wisdom, as though going down memory lane or something.....

Hey everyone.

It's just Amber sending from a friend's email address.

Since this list is kinda slow (can you say dead?)
I thought I'd write something to it. And I have no idea...what to write
*lol*

Just hello the people I haven't met yet, and feel free to introduce
yourself.

I'm so gone now since we're driving to MN tomorrow to to actually get to
our new house.

Amber
