Hurricane Knitters was orignially started for knitters and fiberists in Florida but has grown to include members from Maui to Israel.

While the common thread for this community is knitting, there is no restriction on topics beyond common sense.

That is, this is a "community" and non-knitting topics are allowed and encouraged and the list can get chatty at times.

Our first event was a mosaic-knitting workshop led by Barbara G. Walker and was held in Sarasota in 1999.

We maintain an informal list of yarn stores in Florida, with customers' comments where available, to share with knitters visiting Florida.
