In Hunterdon County, New Jersey, ARES® and RACES are separate. While members do have the option of becoming members of only one organization, membership is encouraged in both.
ARES® was created by the ARRL not the Federal Government, as RACES was. This allows us to act independently of the County OEM. ARES® has the ability to activate as an emergency situation arises..... We don't have to wait until a 'Declaration of Emergency' like RACES does !
We provide emergency communications to the Hunterdon Chapter of American Red Cross, Salvation Army and to our local towns.
The ARES® Emergency Coordinator for Hunterdon County is:
Glenn AC2BH. He can be contacted at AC2BH@yahoo.com.
Hunterdon county is part of the ARRL NNJ section. The NNJ section coordinator is George KC2GLG. He can be contacted at KC2GLG@arrl.net
