Hum Awaaz is a group of immigrants (mostly URDU speaking) settled in GTA. It has been set up with the following objectives:
1. To increase the community awareness about social issues
2. To bridge the gap that exists between the main stream society and the community
3. Make collaborative efforts for the reduction of social problems like poverty, social injustice and racism etc
4. Prepare a plan for Community Development and make efforts for its implementation

What has been done so far?
In order to increase the awareness amongst the community about Canadian society, social issues and other day-to-day matters, print and web media has been used.

Since early this year, every week new article on relevant issues and topics (like Senior issues, Access to Profession and Trade, Minimum Wage, Bill 362, Schooling, and Why to vote?), are posted on this site and about 1000 readers are informed through group emails.

So far over 70 articles on relevant topics have been published in local Urdu and English newspapers like Canada Express, Caravan, Watan and South Asian Focus etc
An Urdu book ‘Canada Chlain’ (Let’s go to Canada) has been published
An English book ‘ Alone In Canada’, has been translated in Urdu with the title
Future Plans
After going through the first phase of ‘Community Awareness’, now group is aiming for Collaborative Efforts on elimination of Poverty, Social Injustice and Racism etc.
Group is also started working on Community Development Plan
