Recently, an article appeared in the paper regarding the water issue
here in town. Mention was made that the local water company was owned
by Canadians. Do Canadians or any other other countries own land in
Cochise County?

A few years ago, while we were living in Kentucky, there was a
controversy over the water company in Lexington. It was mentioned in a
news article there that the water company was owned by a business group
from Germany?

It has always concerned me that many of our resources are sold /
bartered to other countries....

Just wonderin' ....

Thanks,
Golden

Glad to see your keeping this updated. Question? Is this an election
year for Mayor? If so when and has anyone shown an interest. It would
be nice for someone to step up to the pump and begin doing the right
thing. I get to see the Sierra Vista Herald on the Web Site and
Huachuca City has been quiet. Hope all works out

The water company in Huachuca City is owned and operated By Huachuca
City. You need to read the information on the front page of this site.

You may not live in the Town of Huachuca City. There are a large
number of people who are serviced by the Huachuca City Post Office
and utilize the 85616 ZIP Code; who are outside of the Huachuca City
, city limits.

Best Wishes Gene&Jan McCullough.

I don't know if anyone ever answered your question, but yes, a
Canadian company, Algonquin, bought out Bella Vista (Sierra Vistas
major water company) and took over operation of a large number of
other, smaller companies. Huachuca City itself is not one of their
customers, as the city has its own municipal water system.

Gene McCullough, I replied to your comments concerning maintenance that
needs to be done on East Hunt Ranch Road in front of George Nerhan's
property, but you haven't replied.

As you said in your correspondence, I DO NOT live in Huachuca City town
limits and the mayor may not reply because of that, but the issue of
George Nerhan - not Mayor Nerhan - maintaining the easement is not a
city issue. George - the private citizen and neighbor - needs to keep
his easement from flooding so we who DO NOT live in Huachuca City town
limits can get to our county properties without destroying our vehicles.

Collectively there has been thousands of PRIVATE dollars spent to
maintain East Hunt Ranch Road, beyond George Nerhan's property, as well
as Lanham Blue and Hunt Ranch Trail. All that is being asked is that
George to be a good neighbor and maintain his easement.

Respectfully,
David Parks

I use the Bike path often to go from lower HC to the Senior Center.
The Bike path desperately needs to be cleaned and repaired. There is
mud and dips caused from the rain and from the big trucks that were
around when the apartments were being built. At the top of the path
the barriers are far enough apart for a Mac Truck to come through. I
know the children will be starting school soon and it needs to be
repaired quickly.

Thanks for letting me vent,

I was looking at a map I got from the county that shows the boundaries
of the county and Huachuca City. What I found odd is that the boundary
line of the county gives way to the city line allowing for the easement
in front of George Nerhan's property to be classified as city.

If that's true, is the city responsible for that stretch of road? I
ask because I live further out off of Hunt Ranch Trail and for those of
us that live out here we 'have' to use that easement/road to get into
Huachuca City. The section in front George's property turns into a
large mess during the monsoon season and then it turns into a rough
road the rest of the year.

Gene, if you'd like to feild this I'd appreciate it.

I talked to the City Clerk(Ron Armstrong) and he indicated that the
road in that area belongs to the city and we do maintain it. Having
said the above; we always have trouble with our dirt roads during the
rainy season. The maintance we provide is to keep the road passable
and usable the majority of the year and during the rainy season there
going to be times when we will not be able to stop all the problems.
Keep in mind that it not always possible to beat mother natue.

Hello Gene,
thanks for responding.  My concern is in part about the condition of the road,
since I and others have to use it.  My bigger concern is, WHY is George's
easement part of the city and not the county?  On the surface,  it looks like George
is getting preferential treatment because he's mayor.

If the city would like to do those of us that live beyond George's easement a favor, have
the easement graded and crowned and capped with AB.  The grading should leave the
surrounding ground.  It would also be useful to put in swales to carry the water off.

Honest Gene, I'm not trying to get my name known for the wrong reasons.  It was obvious
you had talked to George about me, or vice versa, and despite what he may have said
I'm not hard to get along with at all.

I would like to see is Huachuca City grow, become a better community, and gain
the respect of other local cities.  Huachuca City has such potential...

Perhaps one day you and I could meet for coffee and talk.  Let me know.

I live out on Apache, in lower HC, past Yavapi and I am told I am in the county
and not the city. I have a septic system but it takes up most all the space on
my extra lot. Is there a plan to pull the sewer lines out past Yavapi?

Thanks,
Ryan

I thought that the tenants or owners of prpoerty
were getting tickets for unkept yards? So why cant
they do something with these abandon trailers with
broken widows roofs off that make the nieghbrhood
so trashy? We are starting to see the whole street
on Navajo from the 100 block all the way to the
end of the street of the 500 or 600 block to looking
like a very nice neighborhood with owners or tenants
cleaning and painting and just upkeeping their properties.
So we need to get them empty (sore eyes)abandoned trailers
removed and replaced with nice homes. GLF

Wouldn't it be nice to have city officials that cared what the town
looked like?

Hard to ticket someone for an unkept yard when the Mayor has about the
most of it. Can't enforce it on other owners of properties if the
Mayor doesn't obey the rules.
